32GB TouchPad pops up on DailySteals, asking $239.99 37
If you’re looking for an HP TouchPad, right now your options are pretty slim. There’s eBay, and the occasional retailer that has a stockpile that quickly sells out. Today there’s a new stockpile available: DailySteals has 32GB TouchPads, and they’re asking $239.99 for the tablet.
Before you say anything, yes, that is $80 more than HP’s fire sale pricing (and yes, their “retail price” is also inflated over even HP’s highest TouchPad pricing). But even then, it’s still not necessarily a bad deal for a tablet that debuted at $599.99. As is typical for DailySteals, the deal is good for today and today only – though there’s no telling how many TouchPads they actually have on hand.

Thanks for the notice - I just went and ordered two of them. Probably should have gotten a couple more to sell on ebay.
The attitude espoused by your comment re: eBay is precisely the reason that the TouchPad was effectively dead on arrival. No one wanted to take a chance on a non-Apple tablet that wasn't already proven to have high market demand. Now that the shortage of devices has established the demand every profiteer wants to play.
I see nothing wrong with trying to make a buck on ebay. People taking advantage of opportunities isn't always bad.
@jkeefe1 ~ Wrong. Your logic is completely false. It's so nonsensical I shouldn't even call it "logic". Are you a child maybe?
Dont bother. Thats the "logic" of the Pre Faithful. Everything else is the reason for the downfall of WebOS - from Leo, Meg, HP, "trolls", "evil capitalist profiteers", "sheeple customers", "Best Buy Sales Associates", carriers, etc. Its never because of the flaws of WebOS and its hardware products.
if you don't like what fans of the OS have to say why frequent a fan site? The 'logic' of wasting your time here is like if I were to frequent a mac fanboy site... Or kick a bees' nest... Or yell at a brick wall. We love constructive contributions here, and intelligent discussion, but rude generalizations targeted at the oldest members isn't going to make anyone better off or make any friends here.
Personally, I think it was a combination of a lot of things that have brought the OS to the current state of affairs, but unnecessary rude comments are not responsible for it. Trolls are gonna troll, as you so eloquently prove, but that won't stop me from enjoying my favorite operating system.
Put the "fan site" trash to rest, SunnyPhono.
You like "intelligent discussion" and hate "rude generalizations", but you defend a commenter who takes a pot shot at a person who is obviously a TouchPad fan who only wished he could have bought more to flip for profit - as if that's what sunk WebOS? Get real.
Alot of the "trolls" who are here are also some of the "oldest members" who were likely Pre owners from the beginning, as was I. Just because we all dont blame random people and causes for the collapse of the platform and dont blow sunshine and happiness up our own collective asses all of the time doesn't make us trolls.
*****. Talk about trolls. Some of the "fans" (and i've even question that) are worse than the old Linux and Apple fanatics.
jkeefe1,
serious, this is how you spend your free time? It's not imthejman
or my fault the touchpad wasn't successful, and I see no difference in a reseller making profit on a product vs an ebay member. Ebay is the perfect example of supply and demand. Prior to the fire sale there wasn't a market for this product but now there is. There were no rules set in place to limit buyers purchasing more than one fire sale priced touchpad. Those that purchased more than one unit good for them. I purchased one at full price and another at half price from an ebay seller. I didn't complain about the ebay price. I wanted the device and I paid for it.
Lets face it, ebay sellers were either smarter or had more money than those that didn't buy multiple units. I wish I had purchased more to sell on ebay. Again, there were no trade agreements, restrictions or otherwise preventing someone smart to take advantage of this windfall.
oh, and you are a d I c k fyi
you make no sense. Why NOT get some for ebay? Also, that has nothing to do with Leo killing these things. Get a grip
16GB and 32GB TouchPads are constantly available on Amazon for similar price.
Did you guys hear about HP testing Windows 8 at the TouchPad? Look at this: http://t.co/XEzxWotf
triple boot? haha..
I think the 32GB touchpad is easily worth $240. I would even say $299 would've been a great starting price.
As an owner of a TouchPad + TouchStone + BlueTooth Keyboard and Pre3 + TouchStone I can easily say that they're worth each cent spent on them. The TouchPad costed me 400 USD at eBay and the Pre3 costed me 300. Now there are rumors that HP is working on using Windows 8 with the TouchPad and this will be another stupid move because WebOS is what made me change from Android + HTC to HP + WebOS.
The only complaint I have is the Pre3 antenna which seems a little weaker compared to HTC phones. I have signal issues all the time.
Feeling good about jumping on two 32gb TP's the morning after the firesale was announced ($149). My wife's parents are loving theirs and I use mine all the time. I think they're easily worth the $240 but harder to justify with something like the Kindle Fire coming out soon.
It's pretty obscene.
Not the price, yes that's a great deal in light of what the touchpad was _originally_ selling for, but for a deals site? Definitely a rip-off. Especially if you know the backstory:
They had them at retail ($149) originally, but after slickdeals and everyone else caught wind of the deal and started checking it out, they jacked up the price. Surprisingly -- they didn't sell out. So this is the second time they're selling 32gb touchpads in a week.
Scammers.
So, last week I told someone I had the touchpad and I got it for 99 bucks. Told them how great it was etc... He then went on to ask me, 'well, I'm thinking about getting a tablet, what do you think of HP's tablet?'
... So... that shows me 2 things. 1 - HP did some decent marketing - just gave up way to soon. 6 weeks for god sake... I JUST Don't understand it all.
I thought about getting one, as I have the 16GB TP (the guy in front of me in the line at Best Buy got the last 32GB they had), but at $240 I'm not sure.
I mean, $240 is a GREAT PRICE for a webOS tablet, but as at this point no one can say whether webOS will still be a supported platform 6 months from now, so I'm hesitant putting more money into it until the future looks a bit clearer.
I guess it's because i want the full tablet experience - I want more apps than I know what to do with, I want cool bluetooth accessories of all descriptions, i want to be able to connect a USB hard drive - the whole shebang. If I spend $100 or $150 and don't get that, not a problem. But at $240 I start thinking I'm better off waiting and seeing what happens, or spending more on another platform to make sure I get what I want.
I agree, this is a great price for a 32gb. Regardless of the future, the pad will still check my e-mail, surf the web and play some games.
As far as apps and BT accessories, you would be better off with iOS. As much as I can't stand Apple, they have us beat with all that.
Its been up on Amazon for that price for a while. Also the 16gb ones
Saw the Touch Pad on Webos news and got it for my son for Christmas. I picked up a fire sale one at Best Buy in Aug. for $149.99 as it is worth every cent. Even at $239.99 it is still a good buy.
l fell even better now that I got the Touch Pad from Daily Steals as HP is only making it available as a bundle along with a purchase of a HP computer.
August?? ;)
I wouldn't. The second fire sale is expected to begin soon.
The End of October right? Just in time for Halloween. It's only fitting! lol

Just ordered one. Would rather have this than an Android Kindle Fire at the same price. So what if they were selling them at $149 two weeks ago. They are not ripping anyone off. The are selling for what the market will bear. It is my fault for not checking two weeks ago. Plus I still have my $50 credit in the App Store for my wifes that we took back. If HP kills WebOs it will still do what I need, web browsing and email quickly without lugging my laptop around. There is no quarantee their will ever be another fire sale anyhow.
There is no quarantee their will ever be another fire sale anyhow.
guys, just check craigslist you can easily get 32gb one between $200 and $230...no tax no shipping if you can find it near by you..
I forgot all about the TouchPad. Kindle Fire in less than a month.
Even the tech sites keeping talking about the Fire. But I think it's in a different category. It's a reader with some other additions.
I would be interested to buy another one only if it was same as original fire sale price otherwise not worth it.
I jumped on this as soon as I saw it. I bought my 16gb from woot! and this is an even better deal.
Now, are we gonna have the same issues with orders not being filled because they oversold them? That's what worries me.
Stay away from this seller. Dailysteals will take up to 14 - 21 days to "ship" your purchase and then another three to four days to receive it. They don't even let you know when it shipped. You've been warned.
To late know
Eh I buy from Dailysteals and 1saleaday.com fairly recently. For the prices they usually sale at I can wait a couple of weeks.
I was initially interested when the firesale happened, then was slightly interested in even paying a slightly higher price than the firesale, but I've since lost interest. I don't need nor really want a tablet.
I purchased on DailySteals using their mobile site (on my Evo :( sigh) and got an error message. Credit card charged: yes, TWICE. Confirmation email: no.
"Chatted" with their customer service via live chat. Told me I'm SOL and CC charges will fall off.
Why has it been so hard for me to get ahold of the tablet I actually want? Did anyone else have trouble like this?
I ordered mine as soon as I saw this story... Logged in today to see it has gone out via ups ground and delivery is expected Thursday... Can't wait. Just wish I would have bought a few more.
I'm selling one for $240 too :D
