AT&T Pixi Plus Landing June 6th? 22
by Dieter Bohn Tue, 11 May 2010 5:09 pm EDT
We were just wondering when the AT&T Palm Pixi Plus would finally arrive given that it was conspicuously absent from the Palm Pre Plus announcement. Engadget says they're hearing it will land on June 6th for the already-mentioned price of $49.99 after contract and rebate.
Anybody out there waiting for the Pixi Plus on AT&T think you'll be able to wait or will the siren call of a Pre Plus be too strong to resist?

Has there always been a Google Buzz icon on the articles? Does anyone even use Google Buzz?
Looks like it.
Of course people use Buzz. It's the easiest way to back up your Twitter posts.
id go with a pre. the bigger screen just...sells. that and 3D games, more memory, ram, and its just sexier.
Happy Pre Day! I was hoping Palm would celebrate by launching a new device. No such luck.
I still have my fingers crossed for that to happen...
On the day rumored for the 4th gen iphone to be announced...
The Pixi (even Pixi Plus) sucks. They should never have made that phone. They should have worked on a 1GHz Pre instead.
I'm encouraged by AT&T's marketing efforts so far but it is very late in the game for a launch of the Pre. The hardware is elderly, it's time to get new hardware out. They need to release something new this summer. I'm hoping for a Palm phone with 1GHz+ CPU, 512MB+ RAM on Sprint with WiMax. I'm elibible for upgrade in September, so I really hope they releas something by then. The Pre is too old at this point and the Pixi is even worse.
I love my Pre, but it's a little too slow and I don't want to void my warranty to make it faster.
the pixi was aimed at a different demographic than the power user. My wife has a pixi and she loves it! I like it too (the keyboard on that thing is freakin AMAZING!), and personally I'm jealous of the build quality compared to my pre.
I am eligible for upgrade june 1st. That is 20 days away.
Patience my friend.
I hope Palm adopts the use of Texas Instrument's OMAP 4 platform just like they did OMAP 3 processor with the Palm Pre. If so, then we're in for a unique surprise. The dual core processor in OMAP 4 seems fitting for the worlds best multitasking smartphone. Add the fact that OMAP 4 can process up to 20 Megapixels of camera resolution, Full 1080p HD video capabilites, it's 4G ready, powers up several screens at the same time and harness DLP pico projection technology and you got yourself a beast of a phone. Now I'm not saying that Palm would enable all these capabilities but it's certainly possible with TI's OMAP 4 :)
WebOS is going to be so much fun with specs like these.
I just got a german O2 pixi plus for my gf as a gift, and I'm friggin JEALOUS. The whole impression that the Pixi makes is so much better than the Pre's... And she'll be fine without 3D games and whatnot.
Centro users don't need droid-of-the-week power. It's just a simpler device for webos lovers.
I don't really see the great need for pixi myself other than it lacks the pitfalls of the slider.
My apps are stucked on downloading-processing in the app catalog. Downloading can't be complete; anyone having such problem? Help!
Many people have/had the same problem. There are forums for a reason. That reason is so you don't spam the other areas of the site (i.e. articles).
You need to doctor your phone. Use the forums to find out how.
6th June? Same time of the Apple WWDC???
I can't believe... :-(
alweb,
Not like it's a new product. Every relaunch doesn't have to have a party with marching bands and I doubt ABC News was going to do a live remote from ATT's Manhattan store for buyer reacrion.
I sure hope HP can make a big, make that huge, improvement in Palm's ability to roll out new devices. This is really pretty sad. AndroidCentral is talking about new devices on an almost daily basis. PreCentral is reduced to talking about the same old phones on a different carrier.
The Pre, even the PrePlus, is essentially a year old phone. It's not really a triump that now, nearly a year after the Pre was introduced, AT&T is finally going to carry it.
There must be nearly 2 dozen Android phones on the market, or coming in the next month or so. There are 2 WebOS phones. Three is you think wi-fi on the Pixi plus really makes a difference (I refuse to consider the Pre and Pre Plus two different phones, as there's no real functional difference between them.)
If HP can't address this, and fast, WebOS will be nothing more than an amusing anecdote in the history of handheld computers.
Try dividing the number of new Android phones by the number of handset makers producing them, and then I think the number "two" will start to look a lot better.
Palm burned through most of their cash already, and now it will take a little time for the HP reset to come through.
Overclock your Pre and sit tight :)
This is a silly comment, do you see Apple releasing new hardware every month? Android is an open platform than any hardware manufacture can use. Right or wrong Palm has chosen to follow Apples lead and keep the hardware/software as a platform.
Palm will probably lag a bit for the next 6 months on hardware waiting on the HP guys to come in and help them out.
[At the AT&T Store in June] Hmm...new iPhone HD or old Palm Pixi Plus. Decisions, decisions...
I called the ATT store today to inquire about when they open on Sunday and asked about the Pre, and the girl said that she was looking at a launch date of both the Pre and Pixi on Sunday May 16th.
