App Catalog update woes come to an end 32

App Catalog FAIL Whatever they did, they did it. The folks working Palm’s App Catalog have worked some background voodoo to right whatever wrong sent the App Catalog into update failure mode if you happened to be homebrewing or developering. All is well, so get to downloading those tons of updates you couldn’t before.

Was this a large problem? Whenever I got this error, I just swiped back and did a second download. It always worked on the second try.

It was annoying. It failed on me as it was updating an app. The app worked after restarting my phone, but I'm not sure I really got the update. I'll be checking today.

yes it was a large problem
the swipe back Never worked for me
(did get updates through preware though)

you could have updated the whole time. updating one @ a time using Preware worked

Thank goodness! Despite my best efforts to keep updated app-by-app, turns out there are 17 that need updates. Joining the download frenzy now...

Oh my goodness YES! I have been seeing so many updates in Preware this whole time, just taunting me, and now no more! 22 downloads now commenced. @KingDude420: Weird, because when I tried updating one at a time, I was given no option for that. It would just bring me to the App Catalog and just have Tap to Launch, not Update.

If it showed 'launch' an not update, just meant that it was not posted yet but was listed in the feeds... That's all.

what update issues? If patchers & homebrewers were having issues, then Preware was 'most likely' installed and permitted updates by clicking each individual app.

Oh happy times. I thought is was my phone and made a visit to the doctor before I read what was happening.
I wasn't a happy camper after I found out that wasn't necessary.

If it makes you feel better -- I was 80% as bad -- didn't visit the doctor but did partial erase (twice) thinking it was a bad 1.4.5 upgrade that caused the issue. Will teach me to read the old blogs / posts when coming back from vacation.

And I thought I'd have one day without updating pReader. Seems I missed out on update 0.8.17 - skipping to 0.8.18 directly, that's what I call progress.

Awesome! That was such and issue, wish they would push the hot apps contest back a few days because of it... I fixed the controls and the wind in office paper basketball and no one could see any of the changes!

I was hoping "App Catalog update woes" meant the unnecessary updates (i.e. the ones that are not actually updated). Am I the only one wondering why the same apps show up as new every single day? Are the devs just "updating" so they have a better shot at winning the Hot Apps contest?

Yes, I definitely use Preware. I'm not sure why I still use the official catalog actually, so...good point. :)

And don't get me wrong, since I do use the app catalog for official app releases, I am really glad they fixed the update function. But I check it every day, so in the mean time I was just updating by clicking on the apps individually.

I thought PALM fixed the app catalog issue!! Both my husband & I have PRE's and my sister does to. None of us can download anything in app catalog or in preware!

someone please give an update as to what in the world is going on!!!
