Bell drops Pre price to $299.95 off-contract, free on 3-year contract 15

Carriers are dropping the price of the Palm Pre and Pixi like its hot, with Verizon recently dropping the prices of the Plus version of the Pre $29.99 and Pixi to $0 on a new 2 year contract. This trend continues north of the border, with Bell eliminating 1 and 2 year contracts for the Pre, selling it for the sweet price of 299.95 Canadian Dollars sans contract. If you northeners want the handset for free, you'll have to sign up for one of those "lovely" 3-year contracts to get that pricing.

If they drop it to $199 I might have to invest in one, unlock it, and sell it on E-bay.
This was like.... 2 months ago...
It's also only $40 a month instead of 50 on a 3 year,
free on a 2 year,
$99 on a 1 year.
No, the difference is that the 1-year and 2-year contract options are gone. And, as a customer, so am I! A shame, too, as I was just about to buy one for myself and one for my daughter, both on one-year contracts. I figured that a year from now, the mysterious C40 would be available. But I'm NOT going to sign a three-year deal with Bell under ANY circumstances whatsoever!! They just don't get it....
reply fail
is Bell Canada GSM or CDMA? I would like to buy it and then unlock it and use it in USA sans contract
Bell is CDMA and UDMA
UMTS. UDMA is an IDE interface.
Hey, Bell uses both Technologies but the Palm Pre is a CDMA phone for bell and can not be unlocked. That being said, I think most of us are hoping that they come out with a GSM version of this phone.
It's been 299.95 off contract since about 2 weeks ago when they dropped 2 years to free.
Only difference now is that 1 year and 2 year options are eliminated.
At this stage it wouldn't make sense for anyone to buy a CDMA Pre on a 3 year contract. With the 1 or 2 year contract terms it made more sense but locking into 3 years sans upgrades on an older CDMA Pre would be stupid.
The 3-year still has the 10/mo off discount. That's the only reason I got my Pre. So I can have a cheaper plan when my Pre Plus HSPA comes in.
any sign of us seeing a pre plus up here in canada?
That's exactly the question I was going to ask... when is the Palm Pre Plus coming to Bell!!!
I gave up waiting for the Pre+ and went with the standard Palm Pre on Bell a month back. Which means, the Pre+ should be expected any day now that I've committed to a 3 year contract :(
meh, regular pre kicks butt anyways man.
