Ben and Dion step down from Ajaxian.com, focusing on Palm 18
Everybody's favorite Developer Relations Duo, Ben Galbraith and Dion Almaer, are looking to help drive Palm and webOS forward even more than they were before. They're stepping down from the web-standards and web-tech blog they founded, Ajaxian, to focus more on Palm and HP (and, well, maybe have a chance to take an hour off every now and then):
This transition comes at an important time for us. Palm was an opportunity to show the world that an OS based on the Web can be fantastic, but now, with HP’s resources behind Palm, there’s an even bigger opportunity ahead that will require all of our focus and energy. Oh, and it’s summer, too. :-)
Ajaxian has been an important resource in driving web technologies forward by calling attention to innovation in that space and by hosting several "Ajax Experience" shows. We trust it will continue to do so with Ben and Dion, who hopefully can spend their newly freed-up time sharing more developer details on the next big version of webOS expected later this year. ;-)

I saw "Ben and Dion step down..." and almost fell out of my chair. Then I saw "...from Ajaxian.com, focusing on Palm." This is good now that I've read the whole title, but you almost gave me a stroke! :D
+1
Me too!!! I was like "NNOOOOoooooooooo.....!!!!"
LOL
"Oh, and it
our intrepid duo is doubling down with HPalm. I like it. From where sit, this looks like HP letting slip the dogs of war. I think they and the other creatives at Palm have been given access to massive resources and told to take WebOS to the next level.

thank you for showing us how fantastic webOS is and can be.
take your time.... And blow us away with the next release!
P.S. Don't knock the importance of software optimization. At my company we just realized a 4000% increase (benchmarked) in database processing of data files with some code updates and rewrites. It took quite a bit of time but the results were better than amazing.
With Palm switching their backend code from Java to Javascript, they can potentially see a massive increase in performance due to javascript simplicity and native execution (versus Java that must be compiled on the fly)
..my crow recipies are almost complete. ;)
Please forgive my ignorance, but I thought JavaScript was interpreted at runtime and Java was compiled to bytecode and run through the JVM. Is JIT not available for Java in webOS? If not, then I guess you need two steps for Java (compile to bytecode, execute with JVM) versus one for JavaScript.
Am I missing something else?
Hopefully this will result in faster development of the facebook app!
"...faster development of the Facebook app".
SERIOUSLY?!? That's your big dream for two of the brightest developers who are redesigning the next version of the, already, best OS out there?!? WOW!!! If we're going to dream...dream BIG!!! :-P
If I was to guess, this has something to do with intellectual property. If HP has new employee paper that is anything like EDS, which is now an HP unit, this paper work, pretty much tries to claim any IT related property as their own. No joke it's nuts. My guess is they are stepping down from Ajaxian.com until the leave HP.
I don't think these guys will ever leave HP.
They are like kids in a candy shop now with the financial backing and resources they could only have dreamed about before.
Awesome people with charming dispositions...can wait to see whats next : )
I don't there goin to leave I think the next 6months are going to be exciting
ON A SIDE NOTE does any one with sprint realize that only 3of the 16 cities on there list for 4g this year have actcually got 4g. I'm starting to think boston won't get 4g this year
This doesn't strike me as...news.

Sprint, any mobil, any time.
TYPO: Last Paragraph - "We trust it will continue to do so with[OUT] Ben and Dion"
Usually wouldn't care but this effects meaning.
