Black Friday discount kicks in behind schedule for Picsel Smart Office 22

by Derek Kessler Tue, 29 Nov 2011 7:17 pm EST

More like Black Tuesday, right guys?

Anyway, there was one notable error on HP's App Catalog Black Friday sale list: Picsel Smart Office never got the promised 50% markdown before the sale ended yesterday. Fret not, dear TouchPad owner, for if you wanted to grab a full-featured document-editing suite for $4.99, your time has come. We don't know how long it will last, so if you were on the fence there's no better time to jump than now.

Was watching for this. I checked several times a day all weekend. Finally noticed it first thing this morning and had it purchased and installed within minutes. I like what I see so far...

I was checking every hour for this.

Yep, just got it. Liking it so far!

it sucked cause this one didn't work so I find buys all the books and the games cause I thought they where going to make the price adjustment after like the promo codes for the $50 of free apps I wanted all those apps and would buy them but there is a big difference when your buying like 5 to 6 apps with a couple bucks to like 4 bucks off sucks oh well GO WebOS !

In addition, apparently a SmartOffice upgrade came out today. I have no idea what it fixes, though. Do tablet apps not get changelogs?

If HP shut downs webOS in it's entirety.. I know we won't get OS updates and no new apps but my question is ... If they shut it down, will we even be able to Download apps from the Catalog? Like for example this app Smart Office? I am just curious...

You must be new here. WebOS Internals has us covered on that.

I was really hoping to get this with the discount but I really needed a good doc creator the other day. After Quick Office crashed for the 4th or 5th time, I picked this up at full price. While I'm pleased with the purchase, I'd have to agree with a negative review - that I can't get my font selection to stick as a default. I have to change an already existing piece of text. Hopefully an update comes to fix this before HP abandons webOS completely.

I will jump as soon as I get my hands on my touchpad tonight. I actually need this on my pre3 more than on my touchpad. But for 5 bucks, there is really no need for reasoning...

Now if they would also fix Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer which the article said was on sale for $0.99 but was listed for $2.99. Checking today I see it's listed for $4.99... So it really was on sale but the question is was it on sale for the wrong price, or was the article listing of $0.99 wrong? Bottom line I would of bought it for the on-sale price but thought the $2.99 was the full price. In the future I would suggest that the full AND sale price be listed so that developers don't get burned on lost sales because of either article errors or perception by the community that the HP App store has the wrong price listed.

I bought the SmartOffice yesterday, 11/28/11 and was charged full price of $9.99. I expect HP to refund me the difference, because their email says Black Friday weekend sale. To do otherwise, would be false advertisement.

don't waste your money. Still getting the red screen of death error message. The license bug has not been fixed with this revision.

Just spent an hour with HP web chat on this. They are clueless! I think the license verification should be disabled too. What gives with an app that won't run with out network connection?

yup...same RSOD!!.. **** .even with the update. I think they should just disable the licensing verification. If other software do not have this issue. what makes this software so unique?

Full featured? Where the **** is the print button? What office does not have a printer?

Not sure how much document editing I'll be doing on the TP, but its nice to have if I need it. $5 toward supporting WebOS!

Can someone explain how I get Smart Office to become my default program for Word docs? For that matter, I can't even get an attachment to open through Smart Office. The help guide says to save an attachment, and then go into My Documents in Smart Office, but every time I click on My Documents --> Downloads, I am redirected back to the first screen in Smart Office. Hope ya'll could follow that. Any advice? Have only had this app for a day and I'm very excited to start using this for work.

go to device info, swipe/tap on the top left and go to default applications.

Thanks rumanair, but the default is currently set to Quickoffice, and there is no option to change the .doc, .ppt, or any other programs from QuickOffice to SmartOffice...very confused.

Um... am I mistaken in the belief that just about all the discounted apps have been TouchPad versions only? *cuddles his Pre 2*

excuse my ignorance as m a newcomer to some these apps,,but how do I get a "Word" document from my laptop uploaded so I cna see it on smart office?

I bought Smart Office last night for £3.99
A bargain....
....so far :-)
