A BlackBerry User Takes on webOS - Smartphone Round Robin 15
As I take on the BlackBerry this week, my counterpart at CrackBerry.com, Kevin Michaluk, is examining webOS. He has plenty to learn, some of which happened as he went hands-on with the Pre and Pixi. Luckily, CrackBerry Kevin is a quick study and is sure to have some good insight on the differences between the two platforms on Friday. Until then, he's looking to get some help from you in this forum thread, where you can put down some input on issues like form factor, speed, and the app situation.
Don't forget that every day that you post in that thread, you're automatically entered for a chance to win a Pre or Pixi in our Smartphone Round Robin Contest!

Hope you gave him one with 1.3.5 on it, to counter the comments over there about how poky it is.
Please BB's are cool and everything but it can compare to the Pre especially in web browsing. That the reason I went over to the Pre cus I couldnt stand the web browsing on it. Now of course I do miss my BBM's, I hope that Palm brings out its own PIM for the WebOS that would be cool..But thats just my opinion..
I hate to say it but BB battery life is great!!!
Yeah, I got my sister to buy a Pre. She liked it, but balked at the battery life and got a BB Bold. She can go DAYS and I am still here trying to coax 24 hours out of the Seidio 2600.
ugh.
nb
My wife has a BB and its always dead. Of course her Facebook goes off every five minets.
Hopefully he has the 1.3.5 update to see how fast the Browser really is.
I like Kev... he should be in the next podcast!
My wife just got a blackberry curve from her new job. Got to say the battery life is really impressive. Also got to say that I'd rather have no smartphone at all than use that thing. Coming from an iPhone and now the Pre, the blackberry is everything I hated about the treo 650 I returned after using it for a week in 2006. Maybe the bold or storm is better. I see no sense in having a smart phone without a touch screen though.
ohhh yeah.. hope they writte their thoughts taking in mind whats to come GPU!!!
I never understood people's fascination with BlackBerry phones. No touchscreen and clumsy interface. They seem to have been the "en vogue" phone before the iPhone was.
People using BB like things simple and fight change. My wife would never think about getting rid of hers. I cant stand how outdated everything is on it.
Having played with two of my friend's Blackberries, I totally see the appeal over the iPhone, Pre, and Android phones. They just get to things much quicker since they don't bother with fancy transitions. For example launching the texting app might only take like 2 seconds on the Pre, but that's still like 1.5 seconds longer than on a Blackberry.
And their batteries last much longer. They can go through the day with moderately heavy use w/o much issue. I took my Pre off power at like noon and at a little less than 12 hours later with light-moderate use... my phone gave me the "shutting down soon" message. A girl I know has her Blackberry connected to GTalk pretty much 24/7. I wouldn't advise any Pre owner to do that. You might get like 5 hours of battery life w/ light use!
I really like my Pre, but I'm definitely jealous of the speed and the battery life of the Blackberry.
Pre for life!
Is the plan to test both BB and Pre/Pixi on the same network (ie: Sprint)? Just curious -- a Rogers BB (Canadian GSM NW) shows in the article photo.
I used to have a Blackberry 7100t. My very first and very last Blackberry of its kind for me. There was no other phone I would ever choose apart from the Blackberry 7100t at the time. Man . . . thinking about it now gives me the chills.
The track wheel on the side of the phone that made things so easy with one hand!
Scroll . . . Scroll . . . CLICK!
BAM
There you were checking insignificant emails your girlfriend sent you.
[You've received an eCard from ::honeyBUNNY::]
But the best part: since you knew she was seen you that night, you made sure that Blackberry's SureType Technology was put to the test by responding in seconds,
but
Instead of sending words, you sent paragraphs!
Seeing the whole TEXTING BOOM flash before my eyes had me hooed.
It was a drug.
The Speaker was perfect.
Not only did it look bad-ass, it had a mean-ass sound!
I miss those keys!
Comfortable . . . so damn comfortable.
To be honest, the Blackberry 7100t spoiled me for life. The only other phone that had an appeal to my naked eye, and whom planted a seed to grow love for Palm products, was the Palm Treos. I saw how their technology, their OS, flowed and responded crazy fresh!
The Palm Treos had applications that blew the Blackberry's 7100t's applications to space. Never ever did they come back to earth (till this day).
The migration began.
I said bye to my Blackberry7100t forever and said hello to Palm, the Treo700p.
But Today
I own a Palm Pre.
So far . . . having it for these past few months . . . I began to realize that the Palm Pre is my NEW Blackberry7100t.
I'm in Love with it.
Even if she's not perfect.
Or if she feels a little fake on the touch.
But I know,
Inside . . . you're an ice cold glass of Beer!
Sparkling Delicious!
The pre email never goes down, webOs is so smooth I love it.
