Bluetooth keyboard: Navigate between cards [webOS 3.0.5] 10

by Adam Marks Mon, 16 Jan 2012 4:49 pm EST

This tip is only for devices running webOS 3.0.5 or higher

In addition to adding Bluetooth keyboard shortcuts to allow copy, cut and paste in webOS 3.0.5, you now also have the ability to navigate through your open cards while in card mode. While you always had the ability to minimize your application to card view using the  key on the Bluetooth keyboard, you could never move between them, nor re-focus on any of the apps to bring them back to full-screen mode.

With webOS 3.0.5, you can now use the right and left arrows keys in card mode to highlight the next or previous card. This even works with Stacks, as the webOS update now grays out the apps that are not in focus so you can choose which card in the stack you want. Once you find the app you want, just press the "Return" key and you will be brought back into that app.

Slick use of the keyboard.

You can also use control + delete to throw away cards!

That's great. I like to clean the Touchpad's screen and then put it on the charger and just use the keyboard. Unfortunately, it seems I always have to touch the screen for one thing or another. The Touchpad look awesome when the screen is clean but looks horrible when the screen is smudged up! Is there a way to dismiss cards with the keyboard instead of flicking them off the screen?

LOL. As soon as I posted this the answer was already posted. :)

This is a common sense use of the keyboard, that I was amazed to see didn't work the first time I played around with my keyboard. I am going to have to dust it off and give this a try tonight.

Just tried the tips out and it works great; also have implemented the tip to turn off auto-correct.

Thank you for pointing this out. Enjoying this great feature!

Better REALLY, REALLY, REALLY late than never... I suppose.

Ha, that's exactly how I always figured it should work.

just wanted to pass on a little note. I added preware, the uberkernal and the Govnah. I am not real sure what I did other than follow some instruction with the hope of making my TP a little faster. Everyone likes speed. I did after the 3.04 HP update came out.

the 3.05 came out and I read people saying to disable or remove your modifications or patches or add-on before you update to 3.05.

well I downloaded 3.05 but did not install and after a week of avoiding TP's request to install because I had not read up on what I needed to remove from my TP first.

the touchpad installed the software update 3.05 on its own this morning while sitting on it's touchstone thingy.

weird and I was a little nervous. But here I am typing away and browsing the internet so far with no problems.

sound works, keyboard works, internet works, so far so good.

I even tried the keyboard short cuts to throw cards away without touching the screen all good.

Thank you for WebOS news and the people that chat it up. I love reading some tip everyday about the TP or Pre 3.

and like everyone else I do wish WebOS makes it to phones made by Samsung, HTC or any other phone manufacturer that can mass produce phones.
