Bluetooth keyboard shortcuts: copy, cut, paste [webOS 3.0.5] 18

This tip is only for devices webOS 3.0.5 or higher

Using a Bluetooth keyboard with your TouchPad certainly makes typing and navigating text must easier, even allowing you to move the cursor or highlight / select text. Despite the ability to highlight text, you still had to rely on the on-screen controls to copy or paste the data. However, with the latest webOS 3.0.5 update for the TouchPad, the Bluetooth keyboard now has the ability to copy, cut or paste text using the standard Control key combinations.

After you highlight text, you can now use:

  • Control + C for copy
  • Control + X for cut
  • Control + V for paste

In addition, you can also use Control + A to "select all" to highlight all the text on the screen. Now, someone needs to figure out a way to patch the virtual keyboard to allow those commands!

Dont forget with 3.0.5 you can now cycle through cards with the left and right buttons aswel as dismiss them with cntrl + alt + delete!

it doesn't have an alt-key, just ctrl-delete :)

This is great news! finally!

Wow I missed that, awesome!

All this carries over to regular Bluetooth keyboards too!!

On my Targus keyboard for tablets, ctrl+alt +del is device restart! LOL. Rebooted just then.

ctrl+backspace is kill card, all cut/copy/paste short cuts work fine too! WOO!!!

Amen regarding the virtual keyboard. On-screen cut and paste, frankly, blows.

nice to know! (how else could I have ver found out?!)

Thank you HP! This has been a long time in coming. Now if only we can get it on the virtual keyboard a long standing major usability issue will have been resolved.

Next, support for mouse (bluetooth or wifi) perhaps? That would be awesome!

FINALLY :-)

This doesn't seem to work in the web browser. Just tried it yesterday with no success. Was using Evernote.com and looking for a keyboard shortcut because I could only get the text I needed highlighted using the shift key, and whenever I tried to press and hold it would deselect the text. Needless to say I had to get on my computer to get my text copied.

It seems like it hasn't allow us to move between the tabs in the application launcher though..

Anyone know how to open an app using the keyboard inside the launcher..?

To open apps from the keyboard...

Just Type

Or if you are really cool.

Make it so!

No need to navigate the launcher. Just type the first few letters of the name of your app and press Enter. It really is that easy. It gets even easier with the Shortcut Launcher app. You can make launcher icons using any name you want, and then type to launch them.

Awesome I have been waiting for this for months :)

Yes! And now I want my blue tooth mouse too!!!!!!

Who do we email, I want to start a campaign!

Whose with me!!!!!!

was this feature not available before? Weird that I felt like I used it, eh..

Love it! makes Picsel Smart Office even better!

KB shortcuts don't seem to work with SmartOffice . . .
