Bug Fix: Access App Catalog Preferences and Accounts [webOS 2.x]
This tip is only for devices running webOS 2.x
There appears to be a bug in the latest version of either webOS or the App Catalog that may prevent you from accessing the App Catalog's "Preferences & Accounts" menu. If you load up the App Catalog and swipe-down from the top-left you will see the App Catalog dropdown menu, but the preferences option may be grayed out. Without this option, you can't do things like change your credit card information or set the time-delay before you need to re-enter your password when purchasing apps. The goods news is that you can fix this with a little patience and some experimenting.
- Swipe down from the top-left multiple times to show and hide the dropdown menu three or four times from within the app to see if the "Preferences & Accounts" option becomes available again.
- If it is still not available, close the App Catalog and re-open it. Once the listing of apps appears, try swiping down again to show the drop-down menu. Try this a few times to see the option becomes available
- If it still does not, leave the App Catalog open on your device for a few minutes and start the process again from step one
- Finally, if it is still not showing, you may need to reboot your phone and start back at step one again
While this is quite annoying and can take some time to fix, you shouldn’t need to access the Preferences screen in the App Catalog very often. However, when do you need to access it, at least you know how to eventually get to it.
