Call a contact from within IM/SMS Message Conversation 15

by Adam Marks Thu, 22 Jul 2010 12:14 pm EDT

Have you ever received a text message or IM from a contact and wanted to quickly call that person back? Instead of searching for your contact with Universal Search, you have two quick options to get in touch with a contact directly from the Messaging app:

  1. Messaging - Dial Contact Options Click on the Contact Name banner on the top of the screen to load up the Contact record for the resource, and then click on appropriate method of communications (phone, email, SMS, IM).  Note that this action also works from within the Email application
  2. Click on the button in the top-right corner (depending on your method of messaging, it may say TEXT, AIM, GOOGLE, etc), and then click on the Phone Icon ( ) next to the number that you want to dial

Thanks to Thomas Coe for the tip suggestion

Hey Adam when you get that info on new hardware let me know!

Give us all a heads up when you have something to say aside from "New hardware?".

Or, hey, we can ask the guys here at PC not to post any WebOS news, tips articles, rumors or whatever aside from requests for new hardware.

+1
(or...wow! NOT a dick)

eeheeheeheeee

Hey douchebag how about you look at the image and go cry in your panties.

How's that for being a dick?

wow!

wow! What a dick....to Osiris_C3 since precentral on phone posts replys under wrong posts...

The Tips series has been very helpful. I thought I knew everything about my Pre, but there is so much hidden in there. Nice job!

Good tip... I discovered this not too long ago. Kudos for the pic as well :)

I forgot about this. Thanks for the reminder.

Alternatively, message someone from the call log in the phone app.

Great graphic, btw.

"Hey Ruby, Love WebOS! When are we getting new hardware?"

Ruby: "Hold on a sec.. I'm looking out of the window......NOPE..I don't see any Donkey's Flyin' so......"

No donkey's flying, but hey, looking, a talking ass!

Bruh-Man weren't you telling off the trolls here just last week? N now they've got you brainwashed into naysaying? What gives?

Great tip, I only had tried to touch the number and that only chooses where to send the texz, I was even upset this option wasn't available, so glad to be wrong, I guess I have to play around with my phone more to discover hidden tips :)

This one should be obvious but still a good thing to note.
