Carphone Warehouse in UK believes in the elusive 64GB HP TouchPad enough to put it on pricetag 14
We’ve seen a lot of retailers musing about a mystical 64GB HP TouchPad, with some even listing the unannounced and un-hinted-at tablet as available for pre-order. But alas, as far as we know, it doesn’t exist. Or does it? UK retailer Carphone Warehouse believes in the 64GB TouchPad. In fact, the believe in it enough to put it on their TouchPad display, with pricing of £559 and a footnote of “Available mid-August 2011.” Now, it’s already mid-August, but there’s still a little over a week of mid-August left before this display can be called wrong.
Throwing fuel on the fire, we were forwarded an email from an HP channel business manager (an HP employee responsible for managing relationships with resellers) about the recent price drop. While it didn’t reveal anything new about said price drop – it’s $100 and permanent, just like before, it did reveal some of the reasoning. Not only is HP dropping the price to drive consumer adoption, they’re doing it to “prepare for the new 64GB and the 4G skus to be released soon.”
Is there a 64GB TouchPad coming? At this point, we believe – and we want.

Heh, 64GBs. That, with 50GB from Box.net, and 2GB from other various cloud storage solutions (even more if you have anything beyond the free editions), should be all of the space anyone should ever need while mobile! **** , 32GB is probably more than enough, especially if combined with a 8-16GB Pre, and a typically 500GB-1TB desktop computer.
I thought 640 kb was enough...! ;-)
In Australia, prices have been dropped by A$100 (~US$100) across the board too (and they haven't even gone on sale yet... that happens on Monday).
Harvey Norman is also openly advertising the 64GB model, and throwing in a 3G "mobile hotspot" modem free with all models.

The 64GB touchpad does exist, and apparently it's WHITE. I'm not sure if I can get in some sort of trouble with my distributor for saying so, so I'm not going to say which distributor it is but it's a MAJOR international distributor. They already have a part number for the 1.5Ghz 64GB touch pad, WiFi-only, and it's described as being WHITE. They are showing many hundreds on order with ETA very soon. It's listed right along-side the 32GB 1.5Ghz touchpad 4G.
It's definitely real. No way they'd have a part number and show units on order if it wasn't.

yes, you already knew about the 64GB white touchpad. but the whole tone of your article above acts as if you don't believe it exists.
(though you've edited the second half of the article based on the hp e-mail to now say you do believe it exists... last night the article concluded saying you didn't believe it)
aha, and today the same distributor is now showing a price drop with the retail price now being listed at $599 (was $699 or even $749 yesterday).
this jives with HP e-mail saying the orginal touchpads were dropped in price to make room for the premium 4G and 64GB touchpads.
HP touchpad pricing is now a LOT more sane.
I kinda wanted the 64GB, with radio (can always get rid of the service), in White to match my Veer but the $200 off on a black, 32GB, Wi-Fi only deal was too good to hold off any longer.
Plus, I would choose a software update for the TP AND Veer, document editing, TTS, and Slingbox compatibility over revised hardware at this point. And my Touchpad isnt even delivered yet.
i dont kno y precentral members act as if they have never seen 64gb touchpad... i kno for a fact most precentral guys have the lastest release of Webos which is 3.0.3 n they have the ATT model on hand for testing, given by HP!
Even if it is true do you think they'll admit it ? ;)
64 gb TP. Add GPS and SD or USB and it is mine!
does anyone else ever have a problem where you post a comment or make an edit, and it appears right after you post, but then if you come back to the article again your post or edit won't show up? no amount of browser refreshing will make it appear... but then if you post another comment, the original posts show up again. two of my posts above are missing right now, but they'll show up as soon as I post this one... but then this one may go missing for awhile.
