ComicBookBin now in App Catalog, just in time for SDCC 9
Comics fans seeking the latest info on their favorite characters and creators now have a new webOS resource available to them in the App Catalog: ComicBookBin, courtesy of the ComicBookBin site. What is it? Well:
The ComicBookBin iPhone app helps comic book collectors plan comic book conventions attendance, locate comic book stores in multiple locations, as well as provide access to over 10,000 articles published about comics, toys, movies and books since 2002
We were encouraged by the discussion by the site's Hervé St-Louis of the performance of the the new app:
I'm happy to report that ComicBookBin on webOS and my Palm Pre is faster than the Android version and the iPhone version by a long shot. There's no comparison. It flies.
Happily, the app is available for the opening of the giant San Diego Comic Con. Here's hoping that webOS users will also soon have applications to actually read comic books on our phones.

The good news just keep rolling in...
Better news, Fred Phelps and the WBC will be there. Hilarity will ensue.
Be nice if we could actually read comics...
Yes it would.
I can't imagine the headache I would get trying to read a comic on the Pre's screen.
I'd be more interested i something from Comixology, specifically something similar to their pull-list application on iOS. Not too interested in reading comics on my phone though.
Hi. Thanks for the comments. We have the weekly pull lists every week posted as articles, not as a separate feature. We've been asked to do something similar several times. Is that a feature comic book readers would like to have?
Unfortunately, because of legal and licensing issues, we cannot make a comic book reader that could be used regardless of users' location.
Weekly pull lists should be a separate feature from interviews, articles, reviews. Glad to have your app on webOS though!
Digital comics in general is in its infancy with growing pains. Out of curiosity I subscribed to Marvel digital comics (1 price for access to older comics; not newest ones though) and while useable it's not particularly elegant. (I think it's flash) It can be awkward to switch between different panels, and text can be too small even on a laptop. (And the older version was even worse) This format would not be pleasant on a smartphone. The Ipad's comic reader looks very good but Apple has enough clout with publishers to get it on iphones, ipads. The problem is pricing and lack of sharing capability. At least my paper comics can be shared a few times (but then they just take up too much space!)
Note to HPalm: a comic book reader would be a big plus on the upcoming tablet/slate. It would an eye catching app to demonstrate on promo videos and commercials. Pop it open and flip through a couple of pages. Can't beat a comic book page for "POW!"
Better yet, chose pages with words like "POW!" and "Amazing!" printed really big. It would cause the audience to subconciously to say the words in their head while looking at the new product! Pow!
