Counter-Rumor: Pixi coming later than October 20 13

It was just yesterday that Boy Genius Report came out with the claim that the Palm Pixi would be launching on October 20, and already somebody has come forth saying “It’s not so.” That somebody is Engadget, whose sources “definitely have a better perspective on [the Pixi’s] launch, and the word is that the aforementioned date is not accurate.” Engadget still believes that the Pixi will launch “well before the holidays,” and we’re inclined to agree, and we have to admit that while October 20 would have been all sorts of awesome, it was also just all sorts off too early.

Interestingly, everyone (Engadget included) keeps trotting out the $80 Pre deal as some sort of indicator that the Pixi will have to be MUCH cheaper than that. However, that deal was 1)not official pricing 2) temporary, and 3)doesn't exist anymore. No one seems to notice that.
I'm thinking the Pixi will be 100 even on Sprint and maybe $80 or $50 at Amazon (based on the current official and Amazon prices)
You missed 4) The people at Engadget seem to be mentally damaged half the time.
Why does it almost seem like all of these stories are manufactured simply to keep the hype going for the Pre/Pixi/Palm? Be it a 1.2.1 rumour where we were told the iTunes sync would be fixed. This new paid app store rumour and whatever else we keep hearing. While I love my Pre and probably wouldn't trade it for anything... an overdose of BS can certainly change the way I feel very quickly. Either that, or I almost want to tell myself to stop coming to this site for updates. I would rather hear it a week later than come online to read a bunch of BS.
well, I guess boy genius report is no genius afterall! haha
hmmm where are the new paid apps? I want paid apps!

nobody ever seems to have a real source for anything. it's all rumors. just some unnamed source. Hell some guy in their basement could be saying stuff if all your gonna say is so and so's "source." I guess the problem is with nobody ever saying anything we probably wouldn't have any information about anything.
i'd like someone ask Palm some direct questions. Not that i care about all these things but when for paid apps, when for virtual keyboard, when will their be updates to this app that app, etc. I'd hope the conference call would have gotten some of that cause i think some like the app store do reflect on potential revenue. But mostly all their were were questions that were only going to generate useless answers anyways.
I would think Pixi testing from Palm would be required by now if the Pixi was targeted for the 20th. I have not had to be Pixi compatible yet with my App Catalog submission.
No WiFi? This is why Palm will fail. I love Pre and would have considered Pixi for other family members that don't want Pre. but no WIFI --- Duuuuummmmmbbbbb!!!!!
i never did quite get wifi. chances are if i'm by a hotspot i'm either home, where i have my laptop, or some coffee shop...where i have my laptop. or in class...where i have my laptop
Yeah, EVDO is so fast, I'm not sure that wifi really is such a big feature. Great if you have it, but for it to be a deal breaker seems a little petty. And why people think Palm will fail because Pixi lacks wifi and Pre does have it for similar money, that's even more confusing. If you need it, get Pre, if you don't get the Pixi.
Boy Genius, Endgadget ... who cares !?! Neither of them are ever right. More to the point, why is PreCentral broadcasting their shite?
i heard from a relaible Sprint rep that it will be out in November,
