Developer how-to: package apps for webOS 1.4.5 with the 2.0 SDK 11
A note for developers: if you submit an app to the App Catalog that you built with the webOS 2.0 SDK, it’ll be denied. Problem is, Palm’s not quite accepting those apps just yet - they'll only take apps for currently-released version of webOS. Developer Geoff Gauchet noticed this when he submitted an update to Neato. Gauchet hadn’t baked any webOS 2.0 features into Neato, he’d merely packaged it up with the 2.0 SDK. With the app rejected, Gauchett thought it best to (1) fix it and (2) let the rest of the developer community know how it’s done. And so, we’ll point you over to Zhephree.com for the directions so you don’t have to go an install the webOS 1.4.5 SDK too.

PAAAAAAALLLLLMMMM!
We are getting submissions for WebOS 2.0 applications when Verizon and AT&T still don't have 1.4.5! Palm and HP need to contact both Verizon and AT&T at the highest level to push out the updates.
This is really a big farce! Palm really need to make some calls to Verizon and ATT, they managed to get 1.4.5 on pixi and now they need to push it for pre as well. Android gets there upgrades so fast, because Verizon thinks android is iPhone competitor, but palm they just neglect it in background!
*correction* Android users do NOT get there updates fast!!! I also have a Droid Eris that hasn't seen ANY update for nearly 5 months! ...and no word on if it WILL get the newest updates.
Since Android is so shattered across the different manufacturers & models, EACH phone has to have a completely separate 'update' written for them! It just SEEMS that Android is faster because there are so many different models out now and one of them is always getting some sort of update...
For the record, my Ipk Packager program works just fine for making App Catalog-submittable 1.4.5-friendly ipk files :)
Jason-
is there anything you can't do? Thanks for all your hard work.
Android does not get updates faster. Whoever said that must never have owned an android phone or lives on the moon.
True! If you search the web you will find that Verizon also delays Android OS updates as well. I seems to me that Verizon is trying to make every OS update carrer specific - thus: webOS 1.4.1.1.
hello i did not know where to write this for many this information will be useful.
