Developer Spotlight: TIWizard Makes Good 34

by Dieter Bohn Thu, 04 Feb 2010 2:22 pm EST

Here's a feel-good story for you: our pal TIWizard of WizardApps was spotlighted in his local news this week, talking up the apps that are going to put the 15-year-old webOS developer through college. Andrew Munsell (as humans refer to him) makes several apps now, including:

...This, folks, is one of the reasons webOS is so exciting: how easy it is for developers to quick learn and ramp up to creating apps, not to mention selling them via the App Catalog in fairly short order. Big up to you, TIWizard! Everybody else, feel free to say howdy in the WizardApps Developer Forums

OMG I feel like I just got pawned!!!

Maybe you mean "PWNed" :)

I'm jealous... I wish I had the time to sit down and learn what is needed to make applications for the Pre. I've got the basics for HTML,CSS just fine.. it's the javascript that kills me. Anyways..... Congrats on the news story.

Yea cool stuff! Kinda jealous as well but I wish alot more kids these days had that kind of drive to get there own vs. waiting for someone else.

+1. I am familiar with HTML, need more time to understand JSON.
Good for the kid. I wish more developers jump in WebOS.

Cool story. Way to go Andrew!!

way to go kid!

This is just amazing. To see a 15 year old kid developing for the webOS is inspiring to say the least. I'm very happy for Andrew and wish him all the best in his future endeavours. :)

I love it that both Fart Man and Stickyman are made by Andrew! Never stop laughing, kid. Farts will always be funny.

Way to go man really cool

what what Seattle area! represent!

That is very interesting and great news! Keep up the great work and I'm glad to see it is paying off. ;-) Sorli...

I wish his apps where available (at least lite versions) in Europe

Awesome story, good for him.

Great story. Inspiring.

Medical school huh? Keep up the hard work. :)

They take away his calculator away as a form of punishment? Heck if my parents doen that when i was young id be ecstatic :D

Take away his Ethernet cable? He has a Pre, right?

Well, now that there is wifi tethering... ;)

That was before he started making money from the App Catalog.

Congrats, you appear to be a bright individual with a great future ahead of you!

Thanks everyone! It's been an amazing (and busy) year...

Good job, keep up the great work!

we could've done without the fart app ......but good job on the rest!

Dude, great story!! Keep rippin' shit! And farts too! ;)

Andrew, what an honor, but very well deserved! Nice apps, keep writing more.

Man oh man what a kid. I am so impressed and happy for him. I am 20 and just able to create my first app. But i am so inspired to learn and create better and more in-debt apps. Man i got a lot of reading to do.

That's awesome. Well I guess I bought him a set of pencils for his college education as I purchased weatherman.

Sticky man ROCKS! Finding a way HIMSELF to make money and NOT relying on others...what a concept! This brings me hope for this country.

Congrats. It's nice to see the drive. Great job!

I bought Stickyman and occasionally enjoy using it. Even though I already have 2 great weather apps(AccuWeather & The Weather Channel) I was really interested in buying Weatherman. After reading the reviews I will have to pass. This kid needs to take his Easter vacation and update his apps before he loses his credibility in this community.
