DIYer successfully transplants RFID chip into touchstone back cover 14
Problem: you have to buy a new RFID equipped prepaid card for your local transit system, but the last thing you want is yet another card in your wallet. P|C forum member zcharat has a solution: melt the card down in a vat of acetone, extract and transplant the RFID chip into a touchstone-equipped back plate. Done as a weekend science project, zcharat was able to successfully perform the operation and get the whole shebang working without disrupting the normal operation of the phone (the RFID chip evidently doesn't interfere with the Pre's on board radios or antennae) or impairing the functionality of the touchstone back plate. It's an ingenious idea, and one that's sure to ignite the imagination of many a DIYer.

nice work
I don't get it. For 1 card all that work.
Of course... with Toronto still being using the stupid mag-stripe Metropasses and tokens, this would be rather useless.
For me though coming from Hong Kong, we have the Octopus contactless payment system, so universal that it can be used for everything from the MTR (subway), buses, even at supermarkets and convenience stores. Some even go as far as having apartment entry systems using that card.
Not a new concept though, Nokia had some backplates with the cards built in. But it would be really convenient, so if I step out the door all I need to grab is my phone.
i dont know what a RFID chip is.... >.>

Nice link, thanks for searching for me!
WIN! Rather take my phone out since it's in a hostler than have to pull my wallet out. A pretty cool idea.
Hmmmm.... I ride the bus everyday and have a card case I have around my neck. Holds bus card and building access card. Would be great to be able to put building access card up at end of day and then just use my phone for my pass. Its ALWAYS in my front pocket. Now do I risk my card.......
This is awesome, and I've been waiting for something like this for a while. I'd love to incorporate my ChicagoCard train pass, debit card and building access into one device, so I can slim down my wallet. I hope someone at HP/Palm is taking notice.
pffft! Rookies! I implanted mine in my skin! ;)
Rather have my Pre stole than have my hand (or other body part) cut off. LOL
Ah, I see you're just not all that attached to your phone. :)
Novacharter, if you have to worry about someone cutting off your hand to steal your bus pass, then you need to rethink where you live.
Prequan, where did you implant your RFID? And, where do YOU live (include house address please)?
