doubleTwist update brings Amazon fun to PC 9

by Derek Kessler Fri, 18 Dec 2009 12:56 pm EST

doubleTwist Windows users can finally get in on the integrated Amazon MP3 that doubleTwist users on Macs have been enjoying for what seems like ages. The latest update to the media sync software brings it to version 2.6 on PC (Mac users get a feature-similar 1.0b14), and in addition to the expected bug fixes and Amazon MP3 integration also adds supports for the unannounced Google Nexus One. Seeing as it’s just an Android phone, adding support for one more Android device couldn’t have been a tall order for doubleTwist. doubleTwist added support for the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi soon after they launched.

With Amazon MP3’s music store integration doubleTwist can serve as a full-fledged iTunes sync and store replacement. Its playback controls are a bit lacking, but we have little doubt that ramping doubleTwist up to complete iTunes/Windows Media Player replacement is very much on doubleTwist’s radar.

NOTE: This is not a negative comment - I'm hoping that you guys can cure my naivety.

What does DoubleTwist allow me to do that I can't already? What is the pull for this app? I know that this product has a lot of followers, but I have never used it.

I don't use it for music syncing. I prefer drag & drop via usb. However, I use it for syncing photos & videos. Without doubletwist, Photos are not backed up daily over the air & I have no idea what video formats are supported. I just lnow it's not many. With dtwist, I drag a video to it and the format is changed so that it will play on my pre. Nifty! & my photos are all synced so I won't lose my phone photos.

If your like me and have kids who all have Ipods. You can create a play list in iTunes and have it sync automatically with your palm. I personally don

Does it sync the playlist OTA or do we have to plug in the pre to the computer and syn through doubletwist, like the blackberry desktop sync?

Does Doubletwist work with podcasts subscriptions as well? If so, I'm in.

Doubletwist? Sounds like something I can do with the two halves of my palm pre!

Hehe sorry for the lame joke. :) My Pre actually has no oreo effect at all.

To be honest, doubleTwist gave me a problem when I first installed it. It wouldn't sync. So I gave up. I ended up going with another program that handles only syncing. It pulls your playlists from iTunes & you choose which one you want to sync. It will sync all the videos and music that is DRM-Free (either iTunes Plus or imported from an actual Disc). Its free but it also takes a long time like that. I choose to pay the 20 fee and its faster & better. Haha. That's my person opinion. Its called Salling Media Sync. I love it!! Until I got an iPod Nano! Haha.
