After hollering at Verizon and AT&T and aggressively inviting us away from this week's PalmCast, our pal is back to looking for more details on Palm's next phone. A little bit of Friday fun for you all.

Actually we need him to jump back onto AT&T. They have not released 1.4.5 for the Pixi Plus yet. We Pre Plus users got it, but we can't leave our fellow users out of the loop.

I think the question is the other way around. Not whether he has influence over Palm, but whether Palm has direct influence over him. In other words, is he working for Palm? If yes, that might be a good sign, perhaps suggesting that some sort of announcement might not be terribly far off. Or it might not mean anything.
A small marketing firm that does viral videos lists the original series of ReleaseMyPre videos as one of their successful marketing projects. One of the owners of the company stated on his personal blog that he and a "buddy" made the videos. In early July, his personal blog said he had switched to the EVO. So why would he now be making videos about the Pre?

Austin Brooks has a personal website/blog at www.austinbrooks.com. You'll see that he has two careers -- magic (he's an entertainer) and marketing. His home page has a link at the bottom to his marketing company. He also has an interest in gadgets, and near the middle of his home page is a post about EVO vs. iPhone 4. In that post, he notes that he recently switched to the EVO.

Media Flow Advertising, his company, previously listed the ReleaseMyPre videos as one of its successful projects. Those videos were still present on Media Flow's site as recently as last week, when I posted the link location in an earlier discussion about Mr. Ski Mask. http://bit.ly/dzdlTa.

I don't know these people. I don't know if their sites were truthful. Maybe they had nothing to do with the Ski Mask videos and were forced to take them down by whoever really made the videos. Or, maybe the marketing firm really did make the videos, and now they are making new videos, and they didn't want to be exposed in the process. If anyone knows for sure, please say so.

If he wants to get his point across, he should force Ruby to use a Pre, not an iPhone.
What's even more funny is how FEW WebOS customers actually visit these forums (ergo the "entire" community) compared to the total number of users...to say we made a victory is cute, but something tells me they prolly did what they wanted to anyway and *cough* someone else took credit for them responding...either way, since we must trust everything we see on the 'net, it's amazing what some people will do to make the front page :-D
This is Mr. Ski Mask? There was a guy on public access tv in the 1990's I used to watch called Mr. Ski Mask who would rant and throw fits, mostly about politics and bad music, on cable tv. Very similar stuff, even the style of delivery. And of course, the MASK! So is that where they (whoever THEY are) got the idea for this "viral video" stuff? Public access tv from the 1990's? Don't believe me? Do a web search for Mr. Ski Mask, then watch what you find! I am an enthusiast of all things masked, so I know all kinds of history and facts about this stuff...but there was definitely an earlier Mr. Ski Mask Before this Palm guy...SNL should hire the original guy from the 1990's cable show...he is great and truly original.

BubbaHooska posted some links to the cached version of those sites. I was able to see the mention of releaseMyPre as well as the talking about being an EVO owner. Seems they have been removed recently. Not sure how long google cached sites stay around but it was there last night when I followed his links.

I highly doubt I'll be getting a Palm product in the near future, so I don't care if his Is a Palm ad campaign. I want to see more of him because he is funny to me. Same reason I watch the superbowl ads even though I have no plans of buying their products.
So I'm being selfish but I actually hope palm does nothing for a while, not because I dont want to see their products hit the market but because I want to see more releasemypre videos.
guys seems to me that the pre/webos is pretty dead in the water. its like a girlfriend that things are realistically over with but you go through the motions of trying to be together and all that just so u show u care. but in the end it should have ended a while ago. i mean its embarassing for webos/palm that its been over a year and they still have that crappy ass piece of hardware out. it was old when it was released and is not ancient. with NOTHING on the horizon. and the app catalog is miserable. unless u like all the spam apps it has. oh and the lag/performance is like going back to 666mhz celeron. sure they have a cool OS that can do multitasking but when android comes out with their new version i'm sure it will match/beat webos 2.0. so as has been the case lately palm will be and remains behind the curve. its just sad really that they took a golden goose such as the pre/webos and shit on it and fucked it up so badly. i keep checking this site only due to sentimental reasons and i very much doubt i'm ever coming back to palm. horrible marketing and product makes it kinda senseless to hitch my $200 to. its never going to catch on and be big enuf to warrant appropriate 3rd party resources. good luck to you all.

That original earlier Mr. Ski Mask I talked about before is STILL on cable tv in Buffalo! He took over the Greg Sterlace Show, who was another loudmouth lout in Buffalo who liked insulting the audience, and the two of them sometimes worked together. Anyhow...there's over 800 of these Greg Sterlace Shows and they date from way before the first Palm version Mr. Ski Mask video..you can see a boatload of them at www.sterlace.com - so not only is the viral video not working since we all figured out it's from that ad agency referred to before in superb posts by BubbaHooska...it's not even an ORIGINAL IDEA! Though I love ski masks maybe this guy IS selling us all a big bill of goods and should just throw in the towel already! Amusement turns to disillisuionment. BTW - I saw two cute little Palm Treos at the flea market today! Ahhh...memories!
