Get a refurbished AT&T Pre Plus for $50 13

Refurbished AT&T Palm Pre Plus - $49.99 AT&T may have dropped their new contract pricing for the Palm Pre Plus down to $99.99, but that’s not the cheapest you can get one. Of course, you could risk it and head to eBay or Craigslist, but why bother when $49.99 can get you a refurbished Pre Plus direct from AT&T. And if you’re interested in going the no-contract route, you can snag that same refurb’d [correction] a brand new Pre Plus for $299.99 off-contract. If you’re into the math, that’s significantly less expensive than the $479.99 a Pre Plus developer phone will cost you from Palm. All that said, if you're into the contract thing you can get a brand new Pre Plus from HP for nothing.

On the other hand, all Palm Pre's are free now through www.hp.com, and up through yesterday at least, activation was free for Sprint. So, I got 3 Palm Pre's including activation for the cost of shipping ($10). The new phones must be coming soon, because most places have blowout prices for all Palm-related accessories as well as the phones.

Did you have to add 3 new lines with Sprint with the HP free offer? I would love to exchange 2 of my 3 phones with pre's but Sprint says I have to add lines.

I'm new with Sprint, but there was also an option to upgrade existing lines for current customers. I think it would just depend on whether you were eligible for an upgrade. The website also says you can do everything over the phone in case the website isn't clear about what you're trying to do.

When new webOS devices come, older pre and pre plus should be made available OFF contract from H/P for 50 dollars.

If you actually read the page, it says "No Commitment Pricing (New) $299.99"

In other words: The no commitment pricing gives you a NEW Pre, not a REFURB.

Just thought I'd post the discrepancy in your article, which also exists in WOR's article.

Thanks! *updated*

No Problem. I went to look at it yesterday after seeing WOR's write up on it and I saw it said "New" and that was a bit funny.

Hmm... we made no mention of buying the phone off contract on WOR. Mind dropping us a comment too to explain where the error lies? Thanks for keeping us all straight.

hp is the place to get ya phone. Free phone, free activation, & $50 of free apps.

Yeah, it got to be a no-brainer. I'd been tempted by the EVO, but at $179 through Amazon plus an extra $10/month for the 4G capability, it was going to work out to an extra $299 for the first year. I also always get my wife the same phone I have, so going with the free Pre saved me about $600. The EVO may have some good things going for it, but not $600 worth of good things in my view.

Excellent choice! You're plugging yourself into the best mobile OS and community in the process... not to mention that hopefully you'll have MUCH better webOS hardware available when it's time for you to upgrade. ;)

I wish this would have been available this summer. Since my Verizon CDMA Pre didn't work in Europe while on vacation, I could have picked up one of these refurbs and a SIM card that they sell at the airports and would have been good to go.

I think the $300 models will be good for running a pre-plus on Sprint mod.
