Good Email coming to webOS Q3 2010 28

by Dieter Bohn Mon, 21 Jun 2010 1:50 pm EDT

elpollodiablo1 lets us know that if you head over to Good's site and check out their Enterprise offerings, you'll find a PDF that tells you that "*webOS support is targeted for Q3 2010."

Good, if you weren't aware, is a third party Enterprise push email / mobile device management service that works with several mobile platforms, from Android to PalmOS (back in the day) to iPhone. We're happy to see that webOS will be another mobile horse in that stable, and not just because Good originally got their start on the Handspring Visor with their SoundsGood MP3 Springboard module.

One of the biggest supporters of the platform that was the precursor to the Treo coming back to support webOS - how's that for full circle?

Thanks elpollodiablo1!

good!

Nice to have a hardcore app developer making an intention known at this late date. Perhaps Pre will finally see some business synergy with HP being the hub. Just what we wanted, just what they needed. Fingers are crossed.

Lets See the battery life on an app like this!

Good PUSHES emails to the handset, not the other way around, this would be good for battery life.

EAS is also push. So is Google mail. So are virtually all IMAP clients. What makes Good so...good?

Call me a cynic, but I'll believe it when I see it. Q3 2010 is a long ways off, meanwhile brand-new devices like the HTC EVO get it instantly. For the record, DataViz still says support for webOS is coming too. (sigh)

Sorry, but all these broken deadlines and promises have wounded me too deeply. I'll believe it when I see it. :p

Technically, Q3 2010 is 10 days away. Or it starts then anyway.

But I am totally with you in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp.

I'm with you both but you know what would really be "GOOD", a new device. I really love webOS but this damn sprint palm pre seems to get worse everyday. I don't know what changed. I went from never getting that damn to many apps message to getting it all day everyday even w/ no apps opened. This has to stop and fast. I can not multi task if I can't open any apps.

You took the words right out my mouth man. A NEW DEVICE IS NECESSARY!

I feel the same way. However, maybe this is now possible with the PDK/SDK stuff???

Also, a question: did the HTC EVO get it instantly or was it Android that got it? Just wondering if it was in the works for Android and was released to coincide with the EVO. Really just asking here.

Hm.

when come the NEW update....next year ???

This isn't news, they have been saying 'Next Quarter' ever since June 2009. I will believe it when I see it.

Oh yeah? I'll bet you'll be eating those words ... next quarter. LOL!

Personally I'd just be happy if our stock email app:

1) would either send just text/html, or at least get the text/plain part correct in the multipart that it currently sends (> < lack of links you are trying to share, etc ... serious issues, make us look stupid).

2) monitored all of my imap folders (or, at least the ones in my "favorites") and alerted on them. Not just the friggin' Inbox. As it is, I had to create an account, just for my phone, that I forward everything to so I don't miss anything. That's messed up.

These are REALLY BASIC, and it's infuriating and embarrassing that they are at the level they are.

Ugh. It appears you can put HTML in these comments... Above is ampersand-lessthan-semicolon, ampersand-greaterthan-semicolon as examples of what the email application currently throws into your body text rather than the actual characters you typed.

why is webos soooo slow??? over-clocked to 800mhz and still slower then shit! all these phones out with 1ghz chips and they are blazing fast.. and yet I know for a fact the an extra 200 mhz wont do shit...?

Huh? My Pre is overclocked @ 800 Mhz and is plenty fast. Must be a faulty user. Try replacing it.

I still miss Snapper Mail... and the Blinky The Three-Eyed Fish icon.

1. What's wrong with the native email app? Works great or me with three Google accounts and two Exchange accounts.

2. An overclocked Pre is not "slow." I'm sorry that some of you have such a poor attention span that you have trouble waiting the single second that most apps take to open.

Wait, GOOD is still in business? No, seriously. How can they still be around??

Guess they must be doing something GOOD

Great! This is GOOD news.

it's like no one wants to move until it's HP's webOS.

anyone have any update on this? or know where to find info on it?

Still waiting...
