Google Docs a little nicer on webOS now 25

Fire up Google Docs on your webOS browser and you'll find a nicer interface, courtesy of Google finally up and getting Document viewing working for Android browsers. The Google Mobile Blog also points out that the service works better on iPhone and iPad as well, but fail to mention webOS. We're happy to see webOS's HTML5 browser reap the benefits of Google' improvements, but we'll admit that our love for the big G is starting to feel a little unrequited here.

Nice!
But did they fix their search engine?
No, because that would be useful.
I added the patch to include an option for Bing in universal search.
Man!!! Just when they have the search engine nice and shiny on the phone they f#%k it up again... Whats with google constantly tinkering with it? I might just need to install the patch to have Bing as well.
"Do all Evil" google and Apple in same boat! Hopefully as other providers get in and marketshare of palm improves, we will get more choices. Maybe bing or mapquest come up with better stuff for webOS.
in relation to the "fail to mention WebOS" comment, I went to a seminar on the mobile workforce last week, and the raved about Android, and iPhone/iPad got plenty of props, but the only mention of WebOS was on a graph to show how little market share it had. It made me sad.
I understand where you're coming from, however, don't be sad for long. I purchase the Pre from Sprint on launch day; it's my first Palm device. For the past 12 months I've relentlessly following the good and bad of Palm. I truly believe that HP/Palm is going to turn this thing around and 18 months from now we will have around 13% of the smartphone market share (+-2 %) and 36 months from now we will be neck-to-neck with Apple for smartphone domination. Now you may ask what draw me to this conclusion; think about this if Palm continues expedite the advancement of Webos, keep the openness of Webos alive, and support homebrew (quietly from the sidelines
I agree. If HPalm does it the right way, and with the resources HP has, the final product should be incredible. That is, of course, provided they do it the right way. And I think they can.
they better get a god damn phone out the door soon, because ive almost had it with the pre's tiny screen and shoddy build quality. i used an Evo at the Sprint store the other day, and oh my god it was awesome. They should put webos over android so we can use the android apps, because after 12 months there are only about 2500 apps, the majority of which are pure shit.
Make no mistake about it, Google made it look better specifically for Android and iPhones. It just happens to look better on WebOS b/c the way WebOS' browser is.
Meh. When do we get a worthwhile google maps app? Nothing like needing to know what direction to go NOW as you approach that light and google maps not coming up till a few miles later, if at all.
CAN THEY PLEASE FIX GOOGLE VOICE WEB PAGE NOW?
Um, yeah. Thx.
They also didn't mention Windows Mobile, Blackberry compatibility or Nokia.
Chill with the insecurity, all that matters is that it works.
But can you edit????
There is limited editting for spreadsheets. I haven't been able to find a way to edit the .docs yet.
Ltm, everytime something positive happens, I.e., 1.4.5 or google making Docs more friendly, people whine about something else.
I think i'll join :)
Google Search. Fix it.
I prefer when the site look full, rather than one sided.
Woops, repost.
From what I recall google docs has looked this way on WebOS at least 2 months ago... Is there a new feature that I'm missing here?
Just what I was wondering.
I don't see a difference at all. It is just as crappy of a spreadsheet interface as it was before. Oddly, it was better when I first got the Pre.

love my google voice wish it would were smooth :(
I hate conspiracy theories, but I have really started to question Google's lack of concern for WebOS. I think that it is borderline aggressive on their part. I wonder if they see WebOS not only as a contender in the smart phone market, but as a serious threat to Androids existence. With the openness and ease of development WebOS has going for it, it really is what Android should have been to begin with. I think Google can look ahead and see what WebOS will look like when it starts being licensed to several manufacturers and starts showing up on devices other than phones, and they don't like it. Which is a shame, because I love Google. I just love getting my search results in English a little bit better.
Why should google care about WebOS. It has very little market share and competes against Android. They have to support Apple and RIM.
