GSM Palm Pre Release Date Narrows to Autumn 14
Kindly tipster eMd points us to this O2 Germany site for the Palm Pre, which lists the Pre as "Exklusiv ab Herbst bei O2." That's "Autumn" to you English-speaking folk, and it's just a bit more specific than the "before the end of the year" target we've heard before.
As we've said more than a couple times, the rumormill and tipline started coalescing around October, which we're still keeping an eye on despite how quickly it's approaching.
Also, Germans are able to enter for a chance to win one of ten Pre phones they're giving away by answering a question - don't worry if you get it wrong the first time, O2 is forgiving.
So it's "Autumn" for the Pre, which is good, but not nearly specific enough to end this particular silly season. We wouldn't mind knowing the price, either.

Y'know you can also say "Fall" instead, right?

According to this, November 1 is regarded as first day of Winter in Ireland.
Assuming Ireland O2 is launching the same time as Germany O2... that's saying October.
But don't quote me on this, my wild guess only.
Carphone warehouse in the UK is giving the Pre a date of October as well, just wish we knew now how much it was going to cost...

Called O2 Germany today, because I got a mail after quitting my contract.
The mail included different cellphones and also the Pre and it was written "coming soon - call this number ... to register for release".
When I called to sign up the man said I should call again in two weeks to preorder it (hope this is really true, would be great).
If u surf on the internet there are also a lot of new advertises since today, e.g. on youtube.
I personally need the damn Pre, never hold it in my hands but I love it anyway. Its also great to kickass the huge mass of iPhone users in Germany.

hope this is right. I was in the states when it was launched and could play with it in a sprint store. It really rocks :-) I also have an iPhone, but Pre is much better.
i think the 13th october could be the release date http://www.webos-blog.de/2009-09-04-palm-pre-schon-ab-13-oktober-bei-o2/
Local weather info comming to Pre: open the German Palm Pre site, click Palm Synergy > Zur demo 1 and then, when you see the "AB ZUM SEE" slide, there's "Berlin, 18 deg C" written at the top of the calendar view. Hope the 1.2's going to get this feature.
Any word from O2 etc. on whether it's going to be sold unlocked?
@jfrigger: The weather information u see in the picture is a feature of google calendar and not a feature of webOS. You can activate it in the google calendar settings.

Oh, I see. Didn't know that, thanks!
Another snippet available on the o2 Germany site (by going into the PDF specifications) is that the Pre is 3G UMTS Dual Band only. It is quadband GSM though, so it will work but no 3G speed here in the USA if you manage to get one unlocked.

The glorious first showing of the Palm Pre in its GSM garb was great. The GSM Palm Pre will ship with some O2 branding and lacks the frequency support to pull down 3G wireless data from AT&T
