Guitar Hero 5 rocks (and rolls) into the App Catalog 22
Not content to allow Gameloft the run of the PDK category of App Catalog apps, Glu Mobile has kicked things into gear and knocked over a few amplifiers along the way with the release of Guitar Hero 5 for webOS. With 20 songs for you to play along with, you can no get your #1 videogame franchise action going on your Palm Pre and Pre Plus.
Artists featured include David Bowie, Sublime, and Blink 182 (amongst others). So crank up the volume (recommended, if the review comments are anything to go by) and fire up your inner shredder, ‘cause it’s time to rock.
Guitar Hero 5 is available now in the App Catalog for $6.99.

woot
reviews so far state that the songs are all cut short and it seems like a demo. /discuss
I have it and it's fun but it does feel like a demo. The songs are cut short, the volume is alil low, and no lanscape mode. Other than that it's is still fun.
Are there really only 3 buttons? How can that be very fun?
I'll wait for rockband to come out i think EA confirmed already
3 buttons does sound pretty basic. Do you strum some how?
What you guys must realize is that you are playing Guitar Hero on a CELL PHONE. Kudos to Glu Mobile for developing an app other than somewhere to go and get food.
I get "download failed" on every song. Sniffed the connection and it looks like the server is dropping it halfway through every time. Kind of a rip :(
ok, got it to work, but whoever did up the patterns for the songs has no sense of rhythm
f this. where is tap tap revenge?
Not in the PDK alpha program and likely not interested in webOS gaming with the millions they're making off the iPhone.
is this getting a little old for anyone else? video game after video game. come on already, if i wanted to sit around playing games i would buy an xbox or playstation.
there are some very nice, useful and good quality apps in the catalog, but not enough. the catalog is progressing nicely and at a decent rate, but i dont think i am a lone in saying i want palm to succeed, they need more quality apps, other than games.
this is the best OS out there, bump up the SPEED, improve the hardware, and feature its features more prominently during advertising and it will gain momentum...keep it up palm, and start pushing for variety in apps
The developers that are creating games aren't the same developers that would be putting focus on other apps that you consider to be more important. It's only helping the platform by having gaming available on the device and having it be actively pursued by publishers.
GAMES dominate the iPhones top downloaded apps by a decent margin. This is what the masses want, sure some people use the iP for serious activities as do those with Android. Palm is doing just fine but remember it is up to 3RD PARTIES to bring the apps. Palm only has a handful themselves.
We just got Epocrates one of the PREMIER medical apps around. We know Adobe is releasing their premier web app on Pre and how long before they release mobile Photoshop? Docs 2 Go is already on the device and is a long friend of Palm so their in the "proverbial bag" also. Ruby knows what he's doing, give him at *least* a year!
Advertising, decent salespeople at Verizon (been to a few stores and it's been brutal). And of course so updated hardware in order to compete against the next generation of the competition's devices and it will all be good.
Once they produce the hardware to compete, the advertising will be fun. I'd love to see a spin on the famous "1984" commercials from Apple now that they have become the old guard in smartphones.
"Think Different" (Apple) replaced by "Be Different" (Palm)
no its not i want more games i have a 360,ps3,wii,dsi,psp2000 and a pspgo more more more games rule.
Comments such as these just prove that Palm (as we knew it) truly is dead and not coming back. In the past -- was it only a year ago? -- PalmOS was the premier PDA business-oriented platform. It's a shame that webOS users are still waiting for Documents-To-Go, a decent calendar/agenda replacement, a decent tasks replacement, and other PIM-oriented apps to fill the gaps left by the inadequate webOS built-in apps. Sad, sad, sad.
Looks nice
The more games the better games are the only apps i will buy. ive bought 9 apps so far all are 3d games. and Tuesdays seem to be the day gameloft up loads new games.I cant wait for games like Driver, Nova, NFS Shift and others. Bring them on
$6 for this?? no thanks.
