Homebrew Hot Apps Telethon a success 31
The Homebrew Hot Apps Telethon, wherein the webOS community got together and decided that homebrew apps and patch developers needed to get some love (in the form of cash) for all their hard work is officially a success. They've reached their goal of raising over $5,000 in less than a week, much of which will be distributed amongst the top app and patch developers.
We didn't hit the Homebrew Hot Apps Telethon too hard here on the blog because what made this telethon so great is that is came from the grass roots - it was homebrew. What we are doing, however, is giving anybody who has donated more than $30 to the cause a new title in our forums - "Top Homebrew Supporter." Even though the telethon has reached their goal, you can always feel free to donate now - anybody who reaches that $30 amount before 9pm Eastern tonight will qualify.
So donate, hey?

Yes, the man just above this post is the one to thank for starting the grass roots initiative. Many others to thank as well. I was just glad to be a part of it.

Was happy to be a part of this and donate to the cause, if not for Preware and a great presence and support of open source software I would probably be ready to move on from WebOS.
I have held contest where money was awarded in donations. I have donated well over 180.00 to others. It looks like I have to donate another 30.00 to go over the 200.00 mark. But payday is Thursday so I guess I will be one with out the new title.
Many members only get paid every 2 weeks.
If you go to the thread and post your history of donations there, you will qualify!

What a great idea and an even better result. A resounding show of support for not only the wonderful people of WebOS Internals but for the whole homebrew community and the platform of WebOS. I hope Palm and especially HP take notice of this success.
thank you for making this telethon. now i can sleep easier knowing i was able to donate to the group because i have a very limited income from work comp illness and the rediculously small pittance they are giving me compared to paycheck.
i've been agonizing over who to give the small amt that i squeezed out of the budget to because EVERYONE is so deserving, brilliant, thoughtful of webos community regardless of ability to pay for the apps. i couldnt choose and planned to decide when i had more $ to spend. my how the time flies when you're busy being raped by the insurance co that your employer has been paying the premiums to for years.............

Is the $30 just for the telethon? I made a donation a few days before it started..does that count, too?

Couldn't agree more. This is how you get more developers. Also this is how you get free press it is such a win/win you wonder why some people #cough# Jobs #cough# just can't understand it.
