How to pair webOS 2.0 with a Bluetooth Keyboard [Video] 14

by Dieter Bohn Tue, 19 Oct 2010 10:26 am EDT

Among many other things, webOS 2.0 finally brings support for Bluetooth Keyboards to the table. In the video above we break down the steps necessary to pair webOS 2.0 with an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard. We also walk you through what works (and what doesn't work) once you get paired up. Come on, typists, you know you can't resist.

what about voice dialing, will that be supported as well?

Can you pair with a keyboard and a headset at the same time?

Dont connect the pre to enemy products!!! haha

Personally I don't see the point in connecting a full sized keyboard to the Pre. What I AM looking forward to is file transfer through bluetooth which should also be able to do if Im not mistaking. And to answer the first guys comment, again if Im not mistaking, the API that made this possible also opened up the mic for developers. So yes, it will be supported. Someone correct me if otherwise.

Can you pair multiple devices at the same time? E.g. have the phone paired to both a BT keyboard and an A2DP speaker system?

Update: oops, someone above already asked this. Sorry for the repeat.

I thought it was coming to Verizon first in the U.S., but this phone has the AT&T logo on it. Any word or even a hint of when or if it is coming to Sprint...?

In webOS 1.4.5, you can't have more than one bluetooth device paired at the same time. It's a horrible oversight-- I have A2DP in my car stereo, but I would like to use a different BT headset for calls. Can't do it. Hopefully, Dieter can comment whether this is fixed in webOS 2.0? I can imagine scenarios where you would want to use a headset and a keyboard at the same time (or even stream a2dp.

Same problem and same question here... hope it gets a response.

Ok..... I see where this is going. Imagine the next next WebOs device being able to output video then add bluetooth mouse and who needs a computer!!!! HP's ecosystem will sync your printer, toaster, A/C, oven, toilet (swipe to flush!!!)....ok a lil over the top, but as I said before, I see where HP is going with this thing!!! 1up!!!

YES!! Thank you, HP!

Now, all I have to do is get my hands on a [paid-for] copy of QuickOffice and a folding, Bluetooth keyboard like this one:

and I can finally, fully retire my trusty-but-dated Treo 700p

Somewhat related (bluetooth updates):
Will callerid info be sent when paired to a handsfree unit or xlink? That would be nice.

Interesting info and options. Any word on Game Controller BT pairing?

I'm guessing if the unit can pair BT keyboards then any BT game controller that supports keyboard mapping for emulators would also work? Should be interesting and glad to see it coming. Thanks, Sorli...

Update: Anyone know if all these new Bluetooth standards work on the Pre Plus and Minus? Just curious if all these new features w/webOS 2.0 will be possible on older units. Sorli....

Will I be able to use my old folding bluetooth keyboard with my Pre? I hope so cause I don't want to bu a new one.

I have a like new KB for a Palm TX that should have been working along time ago! I hope it will work.
