HP found giving BestBuy Mobile Trainees an AT&T Veer and Printer 34
What's one of the best ways to grab the attention of the people that are going to be selling your device? Give them one to keep for personal use. HP has found a solution for the problem that came up with past releases of webOS devices (where salespeople didn't very much about the devices, and therefore did not want to sell them), and now they have been found giving away some devices, a Veer and printer, to the people that they are training at a BestBuy Mobile location in Charlotte, North Carolina.
We aren't sure if they'll be extending this to other locations than the ones they've already hit, or even if they'll give some of these to AT&T employees as well, but we definitely like the idea of sales reps actually knowing about the devices, rather than just dismissing them for the next huge-screened Android device.
If you know of more salespeople getting such gifts from HP, let us know in the comments. Would be nice to see this become a widespread activity from the product training team at HP.

Tim, you're doing a great job with your articles but you seem to be posting old news that was news 2-3 days ago on webosroundup. If you are going to copy the articles they are using, you may want to try and get them up quicker so it doesn't seem so old.. :P
Tim should kick your a** you d-bag.
Why don't you start your own site, webosa**hole.com, and write all your own breaking articles before anyone else does.
Umm, wow. Who let the 13 year olds loose? Ever heard of constructive criticism? Only trying to help a new journalist.
Maybe a better site for you would be webosco**sucker.biz.
You need to get a life. Do you want P|C to break every story there is? Tim does a good job on here trying to keep WebOS relevant. Your lucky anyone cares about it at this point.
Vent your anger at HP/Palm, not Tim.
Perhaps you're mad you didn't get to say FIRST! ? You seem like one of those types. I'm not going to waste any time with someone like you, but just know that I wasn't saying anything remotely like you are stating. Of course PC doesn't have to break every story there is. I've just watched Tim's articles since he began writing here and most of them have been recaps of week old webosroundup articles. When webosroundup copies PC, it's usually quickly, not so far behind. Only trying to help his articles seem more relevant. This will be my last response to you.
Tim, don't listen to this guy. Don't let his negativity bring you down. Guys who live in their mom's basement have nothing on you.
Note to P|C writers Derek, Deiter, Tim, & Adam... Make sure you repost articles within 8-24 hours or Volcom45 will be all over you!
First! LOL!... loser
@Rambo 2.1, the only negativity I see is yours.
Seeing all the things you said, you seriously must be 13 or something.
Wow, I guess the way to be cool on here is to bash the P|C writers. No thanks, I will stick up for these guys.
Now go back to your world of warcraft game Soorma.
HEY!!! Leave WoW out of this fight!
Rambo is right, maybe i wouldnt of said it that way, but i get what he means,
Volcomm my join date is july or so 2009 n ive never seen anyone as disrespectfully douchey as you. You said yu have followed tim since he been wrtting pc, stalker much?
Volcom45 had a complimentary way to suggest an improvement. Rambo...you didn't.
Go have dinner at the Mellow Mushroom...maybe order the Kosmic Karma...or the Philosopher's Pie...or maybe the Mellowterranean! :D
Then come back, ready to enlighten the webOS world with your insight...without special characters...
Tim, I appreciate your articles! I don't want you to have to kick my...well, you know what I mean.
Hahahaha, really take it for what it is, we all dont read webosroundup, reminds e of d-bags who korrekt poeplez spellin'
I'm taking bets on how long it will take for Rambo 2.2 to show up. Any takers?
I hope not, I am running out of email addresses. I may go the 2.1.1 route though.
Haha, I love it. It's never a dull moment with you.
Note: You can get disposable emails.
I was about to post the same thing but sometimes WebOSroundup posts articles from precentral a few days later also so its all good.
Its okay... it maybe old... but it DOES make P|C "Complete"... for those of us who will look back. IT also allows for them to reference other articles in the future.
This was on Pre|Central a week ago...

HA! Now I know no one is paying attention. The forums and the main site are two different beasts.
They need to make sure BestBuy is actually doing what they are supposed to. The BestBuy in my local area still hasn't put a phone on their Veer endcap. Three of my friend bought the Veer and all three of them told me they had to wait and ask an employee to show them the phone. Some of the employees didn't even know anything about the phone let alone be trained on showing the customers how it works.
Maybe they are doing what they are supposed to be doing.
There was a mention in the forums where someone went into a BestBuy and asked for the Veer. The salesperson looked in the cabinet and found one, it had a sticker that said "DO NOT OPEN SEE MANAGER". The salesperson ignored the sticker, opened the device and activated it for the customer to test.
Of course BB isn't going to complain at getting a sale. But if the stores are being asked to hold stock until they've been trained and ignoring that instruction, then they are doing a disservice to new customers and giving a false impression to existing customers.
Hmm, this adds another angle to the Veer availability mystery. Maybe they're waiting until the Touchpad launches to really push the Veer.
Good to hear. I fully support open bribery of retail employees and carrier salespersons drones, might draw a few of them away from Android. Moths to the flame! har har har!
Hey, it's what got them hooked on Android, so we know it works on them!
I have a friend that works in an AT&T store and a few weeks ago he went to training in Orlando and they all got a HP Veer to keep. He was a big iPhone user and now is a WebOS user.
For those of you arguing above about this being posted on WebOSroundup.com... just think about this, not everyone reads both P/C and webosroundup.com so relax :)
Exactly... Bunch of vultures on this site.
Keep going Tim Don´t hesitate. You are doing great. thumbs up.
It seems like there's a missing word in the parenthetic portion of the article:
(where salespeople didn't very much about the devices, and therefore did not want to sell them)
Problem is, I don't know what word should go between "didn't very". Know? Hear? Care? Understand? All sorts of things could go there to make it a correct statement.
That is another news item that Precentral is late on reporting today. You're 1-3 today.
Thanks, Tim! Good to read that HP is taking it to the next level.
So funny, I was helping move my friend and her sister today and saw a Veer and HP printer sitting on their kitchen table. She said she got them from a training session held by HP. She works at Best Buy. FYI: this is in Maryland.
You guys are way out. I have been on PC for years and I could careless about what webosroundup has on its site. As long as PC adds all HP/WebOS articles in some reasonable amount of time I'm more than happy. No need to have up to the minute WebOS news. It's not my stock portfolio after all.
