HP jobs postings hint at webOS-on-the-desktop engineering work 8
Here at PreCentral, we follow just about everything that may yield new information for the webOS community, including jobs listings. While historically, most relevant jobs have been posted by the Palm Global Business Unit, a few recent job listings by HP are very interesting, and could indicate some real movement on the "webOS-on-the-desktop" that has gotten so much attention recently.
First HP has posted two positions, for a Senior Software Engineer - WebOS and a Software Engineer / WebOS, both at the HP Research and Development facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. The description for the senior position strongly suggests a desktop rather than smartphone/tablet environment, with a very broad description of "software that is part of the webOS ecosystem" and a requirement of "Windows and Linux" platform experience among others:

nice!!
I was hoping that behind the scenes, they'd be beyond the early stages.
Scenes? Stages?
I see what you did there, and I approve. :-)
Where should they be right now...dress rehearsals or curtain calls?
Let's not forget, even at dress rehearsals there can be sticky snags and hold ups that can leave the cast hanging in mid-air, such that the audience is worried they might drop right on top of them! Sometimes, these issues can extend into the actual performances... setting our senses tingling, as we grapple for the light switch to turn off the dark.
But in retrospect, perhaps these new cast members will be up in the air, I mean up to the task.
I hope this isn't a move that wil eventually phase out WebOS from smartphones to be just in tablets and PC's.
Why on earth would they do that? Cell phones are the final frontier right now, and the ecosystem they're developing would be too much to give up on the flagship devices.
They should post a job listing for replacing Jon Rubenstein before he makes new big mistakes killing webOS.
