HP's Phil McKinney to Keynote MobileBeat2010 July 12th. We'll be there 23
We're still getting to know HP CTO Phil McKinney through letters and chats with Palm's Developer Relations team. Come July 12th, we're hoping to know him a little better as we're live at MobileBeat2010 for his keynote:
The Perfect Storm of Innovation Why do device makers need to innovate in software in the current market? How does this play into the coming deluge of connected devices? McKinney shares developments now underway at his own organization, including HP’s vision for next-generation connected devices, and how to tap into the promise of the cloud.
There's actually plenty more mobility happening at VentureBeat's annual event, which runs July 12-13 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. The overall theme is "The Year of The Superphone and Who Will Profit."

More details on the conference from VentureBeat, after the break!
Three camps—carriers, device makers, and software developers—are all vying for dominion over consumers’ pocketbooks. With the mobile landscape in flux, they're all investing heavily in a new set of form factors — tablets, 4G phones, HD TVs, connected devices — and the operating systems that power them. Carriers are investing billions into a 4G infrastructure that will massively increase bandwidth, just when cloud computing appears to be sapping the relevance from of carriers and device makers. You'll watch firsthand as industry giants explore the many new opportunities and challenges that these superphones are creating for developers, platforms, investors and operators. The event will also examine the most innovative ways of monetizing mobile content and services — and dissect the young guard of companies exploiting 4G, apps, mobile TV, geo-local services, augmented reality, and more.
Heavy-hitters from all sectors of the mobile ecosystem are assembling at MobileBeat 2010 to discuss, debate, and explore who'll win in the midst of the superphone revolution, and why.

finally!
finally!
After reading the agenda for Mobilebeat2010 and asertaining the premise of this gathering.
if Palm/HP were going to announce a new device this is when they will do it. At a conference about superphones. Showcase a new superphone.. Which also coinsides with my prediction that they would wait til after the buy out is complete.
and seeing they rushed the buyout to the first day of the month instead of the last day I had said they will probally announce something second or third week of july... Wow I might of been on the money.. Lol
and seeing that this conference is happening now it seems why they rushed the merger. They couldn't announce anything until the merger was done and with this conference it's an awesome opportunity to remind everyone WebOS is still here and gonna shake some things up.. Wish I could get out there.
Anytime someone from HP speaks, there's a hint of hardware.

From what I know, Phil McKinney is the CTO not the CEO.

And please please please let it be a new 4G sprint phone.
Man, I can totally go to this. I'm off work and only an hour away.....
Oh well. I'm sure P|C will be right on top of things. I'll be checking their website every 5 seconds that day though. Crazy.
I'm hoping that it's new hardware. I have a friend that inside Sprint and she made reference to a new Palm in August.
I told you guys they said by the end of the year there will be a new palm device. I really hope so.
I'd love to go, but I'm not going to pay $900+ dollars, I need those $ to buy the new hardware they are going to announce. I live only 6 blocks from the Palace hotel. Maybe I'll go sit at the outdoor restaurant next door and watch Dieter's tweets. I'm addicted to webOS.
Here's to hoping Phil takes this opportunity to pull the Google folks, Omar Hamoui, aside and have some pretty pointed convos regarding the "token" support Google has had for WebOS thus far.
