HP spreads the TouchPad love to all attendees at XChange Americas Conference 11
We've been tirelessly campaigning for HP to actually start fulfilling its pledge to push webOS in the enterprise, and we're pleased to announce that it's beginning to put its product where its promises are. At a morning session today of the 5-day XChange Americas channel conference in Denver, Frank Rauch, VP ESSN Channel Sales of HP, gave out TouchPads to every attendee, leading to tweets like these:
@davidstinner: 350 geeks giv HP a screaming and standing ovation! As they hand out TouchPads with webOS #xam11
@Wendigarrison: HP just gave away touchpads to 100s of #xam11 attendees! Cant wait 2 get & test out. Will make me pack up my IPad? Thanks, @FrankRauchHP!
Here's hoping Mr. Rauch also told the new TouchPad owners about some of the great resources available to learn more about their new productivity tools.
Keep it up, HP - the more hands that get to touch the TouchPad, the better.

lucky sods !
:)
Where was I? Didn't get the memo to attend... :D
Really cool HP! keep up the promos and get as many TP's out there as possible.
get some mind share and good publicity.
sure...give away 350 Touchpad's to just anyone...but you cant give the about 200-300 developers in the early access program with launch day apps in the catalog a free touchpad, let alone a discount...Richard Kerris sucks
Chill out. These recipients are the ones that are providing technology solutions to businesses and government. They're positioned to sell HP goods and services all over the country. Win over these guys and you potentially gain streams of revenue. Each one could be the catalyst of multiple high-volume deals. You want them to know, have and be passionate about the TouchPad. I just hope that they were all told to update immediately and then allow time for initial synergy downloads. Shaping that first impression is so important. Often, the long-term perception for many people are formed in the first few hours of using a product.
The what conference?
Consider this a small-scale test for the new price point. :)
Or a Large-Scale test to give away something that nobody will buy.
Hand outsome touchpads in the UK please :p
I feel seriously annoyed by HP by now. I am actually one of the few that payed good money for a Touchpad. Saved up money for a few months so I can buy a Veer and a Touchpad. And then what happens?
- HP slashes the price for the Touchpad...by quiet a bit....permanently!
- HP can't get around to update the Software so I can use their two products together
- HP hands out USD 50 in credit - to people in the US only. No word about people in the rest of the world like me.
- And now HP hands out free Touchpads at a random conference for some potential (!) multipliers?!
I just feel like they are having a good laugh at people who buy their products early because they like them. In some small and indirect way, my expensive purchase is just used to hand out a freebie at a conference.
"Making it right"? Yeah, I'm not believing HP a word anymore. Recommended Android to my wife.
I hope that people from HP customer relations also read forums and comments on this website.
/end rant
F I N A L L Y ! ! !
Something starts to break into that giant corporate hive mind. Better late than never? I don't know if it is not TOO late, we will see soon enough.
Now, how totally different message would be sent IF ONLY these boneheads from HP were doing the same on some pre-launch conferences (wait, there weren't any... OK), if they reach out to the most influential bloggers, reach out for them BEFORE the whole fiasco have unfolded? If they only have made these moves, and priced TP right from get go... How different the whole picture would be today.
