HP TouchPad pre-order in Singapore comes with prizes, packages, and easy monthly payments 30
HP continues to fulfill their promise to spread the TouchPad love around, and it looks like Singapore might be next on the list. While we don’t yet have a release date for Singapore (perhaps sometime around neighboring Australia’s August 15th release?), HP has at least put up the inaugural webOS tablet for pre-order there.
What you’ll see for pre-order in Singapore is different than what you saw here, however. The 16GB and 32GB TouchPad are available for SGD 699 and SGD 799, respectively ($80 and $60 higher than US conversion rates), but you’ll also be able to order the TouchPad on a monthly payment plan of SGD 30 for the 16GB and SGD 34 for the 32GB version. Both payment plans are interest free over a 24-month period. Your preorder in Singapore, however, also comes with freebies – the 16GB TouchPad comes with the HP case, and the 32GB throws in the case and the Bluetooth keyboard. There are also available bundles with HP ePrint printers and/or Beats headphones.
Additionally, if you’re one of the first 50 to pre-order a 32GB TouchPad (with or without any of the bundles) in Singapore, HP will throw in a “mystery gift” valued at SGD 342. Freebies, prizes, and easy monthly payments? That ought to help push the product, and we’re surprised HP didn’t do the same elsewhere – we Americans are suckers for saving even just a few dollars by buying a bundle (even if it includes things we weren’t planning on buying).

I would have been all over this on launch day if it had happened in the US.
Yet here i remain, TouchPadless.
I would have been all over this too, but I can't complain got on a decent payment plan interest free and got some accessories discounted... still lusting after the BT keyboard though.
I gotta know: where did you go to get this and get financing?
QVC, probably.
Yup 5 payments, lets me stretch it out over my B-Day and Christmas, while getting it early enough to quali for the $50 rebate from HP.
Plus still had the 30 day return policy if I was unhappy.
Couldn't pass it up.
Can't wait until they offer some bundles like that here in the states. I'm pretty sure they'll have epic bundles during black Friday & the holidays.
Looks like the installment payments are linked to specific credit card lines, so it's not like they're giving away away interest free financing to anybody for the asking.
If that's a big deal to you, there's always QVC. But logistics probably make this tricky to do in the States, and I personally think it'd be a bad idea anyway. T-Mobile dropped their FlexPay option that had similar functionality for good reason.
Also Best Buy does their 12 month no finance charge.
Some times, I believe that the HP'll gonna launch in Moon before here, in Brazil... :.(...
Best Regards... B)
We need some (TouchPad) love here in Norway too!
The Touchpad is so awesome. it's totally worth the $500, $80 touchstone and $40 cover.
YA!
Derek,
Looking at that picture I thought the story was about a release in Japan. The Touchpad looks like Godzilla coming out of the water to attack the folks on the mainland.
That's exactly what I thought!
Derek (or anyone else):
Does anyone know if the Touchpad is now or will be on sale in China? That's a rather large growing market. Any other webos devices in china yet?
HP need to come up with language support first before they can sell over there. Unless it is already here, then please send it my way.
I see. Curious is that a very difficult thing? How come that wouldn't be as simple as just changing the language when you set up the phone? I guess there's more to it then i understand.
hey why isnt hp doing this?
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/features/education/os-ipads-lake-minneola...
Probably because they don't have the apps to support it yet.
Forget textbooks: It's iPads for all at Lake high school
Lake Minneola High has purchased iPads for all of its students as part of a state pilot program.
I'm guessing that "all of the apps that most people use most of the time" becoming available in coming months isn't' good enough for a high school. Their requirements for app compatibility are probably more like "If it's for education and it's available in tablet form then it needs to be compatible with our system, preferably, with a couple of competitive options."
You're simply not going to be able to sell a third tier tablet platform like webOS to this kind of customer at any price. The physics teachers need these apps; the English teachers need these apps; the Spanish teacher needs these apps, and so on.
This UBS analyst just released a tablet sales projection that predicts that HP will sell less than 1 million tablets this year: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/07/27/ubs_ups_2011_ipad_estimate...
It's time for Asia market to save WebOS... ^_^
.
Read a fair share of comments here, but haven't heard any chatter about the padpivot - a universal tablet holder designed for both table and knee (leg) use.

Great product for HP to get behind, or maybe not. Stay tuned.
.
12th August is the release date in Singapore.
Promotion come along with Singapore national day on 9th August.

WOO hoo!
It's finally here.
I'm pretty sure most don't know where Singapore is though. (hard to find on the map)
Anyway, generally, unlike Americans, we don't get financing for such discretionary purchases. There's a good reason while Obama's going out on a limb while the Singapore Treasury is silently going out and snapping up foreign companies without the population's approval ;)
You can expect that most people who pick one up, will have cash upfront.
Bah, The prices are higher than US prices as usual and will only look more expensive as the USD continues to drop. (Sheesh, cost of living's higher than the US.)
I'm going to guess the reason why they're throwing in a bundle is because this is pretty common here since competition's high.
Love the Plancastic Promo! I'm Getting SecuStore 2 right now. Can't wait to have these 3 new Apps on my TP! Thanks MakleSoft!!!
I absolutely LOVE the Singapore skyline photoshop! Thank you to whoever did it.
Where are the **** updates? It's the 28th.
