Can this app be utilized without a data connection? Meaning, if I'm hiking in the mountains with a clear view of the sky, can I get a signal and position?

"Can this app be utilized without a data connection?"
The answer is Yes, you don't need to have a data connection.

iGPS requires a direct "line-of-sight" to communicate with satellites.Your webOS device must have a clear view of the sky to acquire at least 3 satellites in order to accurately determine your position.

Hope this helps.

Google maps and Sprint Navigation do not work for me unless I have phone signal and data. That is why I find it useless when on a road trip or hiking far from any city.

Since this App apparently still works why can't Sprint Navigation or Google maps? How is this App different in that regard?

They should create an interface to RunKeeper.com accounts.

Nevermind. I just read that iGPS (or is it iCoach?) exports to either GPX or KML file formats and RunKeeper.com supports GPX. It would be nice to have that seamless integration, though, but would runkeeper or ZE-PALM foot the bill for development?

Cool. Will definitely look into this for mapping some of my local trails!

RunKeeper is a very good place to store and share tracks.
As iGPS allows to export in GPX or KML format, it's easy to post tracks on any web site.
So,your idea is good ! Added to the whishes list
