Mobile Nations fitness month: Week 2! [TouchPad + Xbox Kinect giveaway] 10

by Derek Kessler Thu, 09 Feb 2012 7:31 pm EST

The quest to get thinner, stronger, faster, and healthier with iMore and Mobile Nations continues!

We’ve survived the first week of Mobile Nations Fitness Month. We’ve set our goals and whether we achieved them (yay!) or are still working on them (take that!), we’re feeling better and doing better because of it. And we’re getting tons of great feedback. This might just be the year where mobile and lifestyle fully come together, where eHealth and eFitness — or iHealth and iFitness — finally start making the impact we’ve all been waiting for. It’s gone from being a token arm band case to being an entire ecosystem of highly specialized companion apps and accessories.

We recorded a special edition of ZEN and TECH with CrackBerry.com’ Kevin Michaluk, where we answered a lot of questions, cleared up some big misconceptions, and went over a lot of dos and don’ts to get things going.

Also Kevin produced the single greatest (or most terrifying) fitness video in the history of YouTube. Watch his Sexy and you know it workout.

So let’s keep it going! Once again, we’re setting reasonable, attainable goals, and we’re going to take advantage of our awesome community to make sure we attain them. We have a special edition of our Superfunctional podcast coming your way this weekend to help keep you motivated. Since it's a new week, we've got a new Fitness Month thread in the forums to keep us focused, keep us accountable, and keep us keeping on!

Oh, and we’re still giving away a lot of great prizes!

  • Weekly drawings for an TouchPad Touchstone. We’re giving away 4 total, one each week!
  • Grand prize drawing for a 32GB TouchPad Bundle (includes Touchstone, Bluetooth Keyboard, and Folio Case)!

Our ZEN and TECH podcast has also added to the pot with an Xbox 360 Kinect giveaway, so be sure to enter that as well!

So hurry up and jump into the forums and pick your goal for week 2. Mobile Nations fitness month continues!

I just started a calorie counting program and have lost 7lbs in 2 weeks without trying too hard. Check out http://cronometer.com/ to see this free online system. It works pretty well on the TouchPad - have not tried it on the Pre yet.

I will add the pushups, squats and situps starting a 10 each now.

thanks and sign me up in your contest!

Nothing fancy for me. I am still going to keep my self running for 3 days out of the week, I have actually done 2 of them already. My hope is to increase either the time of the run, or the speed. So far, I have gone from running for 20 minutes to running for 25 minutes.

After I build up to 30 minutes of running (no walking), then I will increase the speed. After I get my self up to 6 mph (on the treadmill), I will start looking at elevation gains, but for now, elevation gains are killing me, so I have to run on a level surface.

ride bike 10 miles 5 days per week

im a huge fatass (about 210 lbs, should be around 165 for my height) who does exercise at least 3x a week... i think having a touchstone would really give me the motivation to finally get in shape.

Commenting with my Pre3 works again with this new frontpage design.

Thx to all the siteadmins.

all this week, i have cut out all soda. (i used to drink one 12oz can a day of non-diet and sometimes a glass or two of soda at home.)
i have ran a total of 3 miles this week as well as walked the dog twice a day for one half a mile each time.
next week, i plan to cut out sweets and snacks, (but still have better snacks in between meals like a yogurt, a small service of fruits or vegetables
run for an extra 2 miles next week.

Whoo hoo week two.

Pushed myself pretty hard last week, looking forward to continuing it.

Time to get my round shape back into shape. starting slow.

3 days a week - 4 miles
4 days a week - 3 sets - 20 sit up
4 days a week - 3 sets - 15 push up

Working on running 2 miles this week.

My next goal will be running 1 hour continuously at moderate speed 3 times a week. I've been able to do 30 minutes at a moderate speed before taking a break. By the way winning one of these prizes will really motivate me I bet.
