Mock The Afflicted: App Developers fight back against poor reviewers 19
There are a lot of funny people on the vast interwebs, and the webOS community has its fair share of them (maybe you are one of them). Ben Fysh, a webOS developer who just spoke at the webOS CONNECT event in London, has run into quite a few of his own "afflicted" reviewers in the app catalog, and seeing as how developers, no matter how great, are unable to respond to reviewers and customers directly, he decided to take a different approach and create a place for all webOS developers to come together and, well, mock the afflicted.
We'll warn you now, some of the content on the site is potentially NSFW (there's some derogatory language involved) but as MockTheAfflicted "believes in equal opportunity for all idiots," you can expect a few laughs from the inane behavior of webOS app reviewers the whole world 'round (or at least, where the app catalog isn't restricted). Since October of 2010, Ben (and his band of merry men) has been cataloging the many disastrous reviews that have been brought into existence, and he is always on the lookout for more to add.
Check out the website and enjoy some laughs, or submit your own screenshots of fail-reviews to MockTheAfflicted, and strike back at the many... umm... "funny people" that populate our webOS user community.

This ain't news, guys.
The name of the site is "PreCentral.net | The #1 Palm Pre and Pixi Community". Nothin' in there about it only being a news site.
I think you're confusing "newspaper" and "blog".
Just pointing out that they did a fantastic job bringing some real information about the 3.0 emulator and a developer event, which I do consider newsworthy and followed that up with a story about a website which mocks consumers.
Kinda fluffy for my tastes.
And need I point out that Palm is no more? Might be time for a banner change as well.
I personally disagree on both counts. Blogs will invariably have both news and "fluff" - Zhephree was correct in distinguishing it from a newspaper. On the second order of business, most of us are big fans of Palm, and wouldn't appreciate having the company stricken from site mention, despite HP slapping their logo over everything.

i think idiot reviewers are just things you need to live with. some people just do not get it, if you get enough people saying good things; people tend to ignore the ones so simply do not have a clue..
the website is dead (suspended again) - so, no go.
we recently released Caveman for webos; a classic game inspired by Lemmings - looks like a few "younger" reviewers out there just do not get it.. like; it is about skill, speed, being fast.. of course you should not be able to work on the level while you are in paused mode.. :) life goes on however, focus on the people who say good things, ignore the idiots.
Says site suspended but noticed it kept forwarding to a cgi.
just for fun went to site/index.php and got to view a few things but not much listed. last post was 4/1 and nothing I would consider NSFW

It was just something thrown together a few months ago when I saw a few reviews on twitter that made me laugh.
The idea that it would be user submitted content but that relies on users and submissions ;)
Site should be back and more stable now as I wasn't expecting this post so hadn't done anything sensible like used caching or allocated enough bandwidth to the domain ...
Hilarious idea. But I'm afraid what this will lead to is the "Idol Effect". Like the horrible singers just wanting to get on TV, I think people will leave comments just to try and end up on the that site. I hope not, cus this is downright hilarious! Revenge of the developers!
The Idol Effect.....you mean like this season where 90% of them are good singers, is that what you mean?? :)
By the way, that's half the show....well the first half anyways. Pure entertainment. It's not like the producers of the show "accidentally" left the bad singers so those at home could see them.
It is pretty funny though :)
Just a shout out to whoever put that site together: It would be nice if you could have more than 9 screenshots at a time/per page, other than that.....I have something to do other than refresh the "New Posts" button in the forums :D

Hmmm, I guess developers have more time to mock people who leave inane reviews rather than improving their product.
I agree with blz2, this will just lead more people to do this so they can get a screen capture of it and send onto the site. Why promote the idiots, better yet would be to have an app developer have a way to flag a review and have HP review the comment and remove if it is completely unrelated to the app.
Just to give you some context, I put this site together well before I had even picked up the SDK so as a user I put it together to partly to highlight the fact that these reviews exist.
A lot of the content initially was submitted by users as opposed to developers.
Not knowing as I do now that the reviews are scanned on a semi regular basis and any offending ones removed ... in an ideal world there would be no content for Mock The Afflicted ... I concur with you that there

I have a feeling that these "idiots" don't even come here to this site, therefore, they don't know about that site. If they did come to this site, then they might know a thing or two about the forums, and how to "really" get in touch with developers for their problems. Maybe I'm wrong, but I bet for 75% of them I'm right :)
well i checked the site and let me tell you some of those people deserve to be mocked lol like the person who left zero stars because they hate horses and every app that has horses deserves zero stars? like wtf that has nothing to do with how well the app works, just some jerk who decided to ruin someone's star rating. Its not fair to the dev. They totally deserve to be made fun of. its absolutely illogical! lol
