More on that $50 Price Drop: It's Real, but only for IPCS
On Sunday night we posted a price sheet from an anonymous tipster that showed the Palm Pre would be available for $150 after rebate. That is most definitely the case, but only for customers lucky enough to be in the IPCS service area.
IPCS is an independent company that does Sprint's business for the above regions. A friendly fellow in Davenport, Iowa confirmed to us this morning that the Pre is "On special" for $249 with a $100 mail-in rebate for new customers, so the Pre is available for $149, but only if you're buying from IPCS. In the comments on our original post, gilligan793 confirms the same (and pointed us to the above map - thanks!)
The cut lasts through October 31st (at least) on IPCS and so far Sprint 'proper' hasn't followed suit in the price drop.
