MotionApps announces Classic 2.0 Re-Trial 19

Disappointed that you haven't been able to try the recently released Classic 2.0 PalmOS emulator that brings with it enhancements like full HotSync and Bluetooth support, because you've already evaluated an earlier version?
You can now put that disappointment rest. MotionApps has announced the availability of a new 10 day trial of Classic 2.0 for anyone to try, whether you have an expired trial of a previous version or not.
You can grab the latest iteration of Classic from the App Catalog.

i guess they were tire of manually doing it.
Yep. They told me I could contact support and give them my Palm ID and then they reset my trial. I decided I didn't want to work THAT hard to buy a companies product. My wife and I will most likely purchase after this move.
Is it still as craptastic as the previous version? I remember seeing so many people experiencing crashes and disasters, with the company not supporting it at all, that I never got the nerve to try it out. Have those growing pains been resolved?
It's significantly better, but still not perfect. The WebOS 1.2 delivered an updated ROM (or something?) used by Classic that was itself a significant improvement in stability, so I can't tell if Classic 2.0 itself was a huge improvement or not because the updated ROM made such a big difference. (And I believe that crashed fixed by a new ROM are not the fault of Motion Apps, but instead the fault of the previous part of Palm: Access.)
With WebOS 1.2 and Classic 2.0, I can still crash my Pre and I can still crash Classic itself, but both occur far less often than before.
There are still growing pains, but it's a lot better.
Anyone know if you can use LJP emulators with this app?
Anyone know if SlingPlayer works now?
Yeah, I just asked them over the weekend and on Monday they gave me another "Week" Wonder if it was reset yet again. I've played with it a little. While it will go "Full Screen" it appears that is not really much of a benefit, you still don't get a true pre full screen, you still have the button emulation area. :( I want true full screen for the palm application.
Also the ebook reader that I use on it, I want to be able to use finger scrolling, and pinch it in to make it bigger, and have it re-flow.
sigh, still don't know that it is worth $30 to me.
It is currently impossible to do true full screen with Classic as it is written to emulate the hardware of the Centro (the latest PalmOS device made). Neither Centro or Treo supports 320 x 480 resolution natively, so neither will Classic. I imagine there would have to be some major code rewrites to even begin to hack in a "stretchable" screen like the T3 had.
Does your ebook reader behave that way on a Treo? If not, there is no reason that same version should behave the way you want on the Pre.
Kinoma EX still will not stream with Classic 2.0 MotionApps will not get my 30 bucks until Kinoma or Pockettunes work correctly.
If only I could install the thing! I hit the app limit, deleted 6 of my HB apps and it still gives me not enough memory error.
I purchased Classic and just wanted to update it to 2.0 but noooooooooooo
THANKS PALM!!!
I am having the same problem. Purchased it right after it came out and now I cannot update due to a space limit. And I've deleted every app (reg & homebrew) that I am willing to sacrifice. HELP!!!!
It crashes alot on me, and then my palm pre reboots. It does not just fail classic, it crashes the whole phone. I have not figured out what causes it to crash, seems to be a different scenario every time. I don't plan to use it for any apps except for one and very carefully to prevent it from crashing. This app needs major quality control review.
hit me when they get sling player mobile working ..then we will talk about that 30 bucks they want ..
The trial time is just too stingy. It'll take me half that time just to get everything installed and restored to the condition it is on my T5 so that the remaining time will not even begin to test if it will be able to replace my T5. Not to mention it just doesn't seem worth it unless you use a ton of old apps. I'm going to load up my apps and see if the ones that would not work before work now but if they don't then I can only hope that webOS version come about that aren't pay for apps. I only pay for things that I will use almost every day. If I don't then it is not worth paying for unless the price is very small like about $2.
And to be honest I hardly use all the apps that don't have webOS counterparts I used on my T5. In fact I have lived without them. I pass my time with things other than solitaire, I got sick of having to manually enter all my spending to track spending, and every other 3rd party app I used has been replaced by online reference resources or stock apps on the pre with one exception database apps for my DVD collection and upcoming DVD purchase lists. Which even that got tedious since more DVDs came out week to week that I wanted to buy than I could afford to buy, so I gave up even tracking that stuff.
I was rather disappointed that palm didn't package classic in with webOS even with it being a 3rd party app. They could have payed like $5 per device sold. This is the way it should have been done. Then you could upgrade it for premium things that business users need sort of like how docs to go is a basic app for free but to get all the extra stuff of a full office suite you pay extra for. To be honest motionapps probably will have made more now and in the long run that way than they $30 you pay now. I can't imagine they sold classic to many. In fact as more and more apps go native nobody will buy classic. I guess I just see it as a waste the way they did it.
Just downloaded classic and my pre crashed. Its never done that before.. Classic is a waste.. Ill just waite for the app store to get everything classic has anyways. Dont waste your time or money on this app..
Classic crashes constantly for me and resets my Pre. And like others have said, there is no streaming support through Kinoma or Pocket Tunes, which would be my top reason for getting it. I don't see any way this program is worth $30 when it runs a greatly limited number of apps and is so unstable. Great idea, poor execution.
Boy, a lot of complainers... Personally it works great for me, and allowed me to upgrade to the Pre now rather than wait another year (or longer) for developers to upgrade essential Palm OS apps that I need. Sure, it'll occaisionally crash if you push the envelope, but for the most part it's great!
Works pretty well for me. I have all my contacts and calendar info in there as well as my old tasks and memos. WiFi and Bluetooth Hotsync work really well though it took a bit of sleuthing to get the Bluetooth connection up. Certain programs I tried like pssh (part of the "free" downloadable bundle) caused crashes and even froze the Pre. Also the calendar gets wonky and scrolls through the months on its own to some future date a year or more out. Waiting for the ePocrates autoupdate problem to be solved. Overall, however, it does the job.
