Movistar to Offer Palm Pre in Spain and Latin America 9
Palm Infocenter is reporting that Telefónicas's Movistar will be exclusively offering the Palm Pre in Spain, UK and Latin America. According to Spanish newspaper Expansion (Translated) , Telefónica will offer the Pre in Spain through Movistar "before summer."
From the translated article:
"..For marketing, the operator will require the hiring of its customers a flat rate of data, based on the gradual subsidy expenditure committed by subscribers. This is the same model used to sell the iPhone, which is developing in the high-end smartphones."
The article also mentions the rival between Telefónica and Vodafone, saying that the big rivalry began in 2007 when the Vodafone of Spain snatched up distribution of Apple's iPhone, which the article says is the most famous of the world's phones in the UK. O2, the British subsidary of Telefónica, will be marketing the Palm Pre exclusively in the UK, while Movistar sells it in Latin America.
So again, we hear, "before summer". I'm still hoping that Palm will surprise us with a sooner than summer release. But I'll take the Pre when I can get it.

If this is true then it is great news for iphone users in the UK who want the Pre. I was concerned that I'd need to take a Vodafone contract but now I can just swap out my existing o2 sim which has unlimited data and wifi through BT openzone and the Cloud.
Me too!
Would be the first Palm on o2 Germany, wouldn't it?
