- Universal Search: Start typing within the app to instantly find anything within your music collection. Also initiate searches using webOS 2.0’s Just Type.

- Faves: Pin items to the home screen for one-touch easy access to your favorite music. - Autolists: Auto-generated playlists created based upon your listening habits.

- Mini-player: A customizable, multi-module player that resides in the notification area.

Nothing compares to this app in the Android world. I'm hoping desperately that Sprint will sell the Pre 3 and this app is one of the main reasons for that. You won't get a more interactive app.

Thanks a lot! I'll take your word on Android...but today I was at the AT&T store and tried out a Windows Phone. It's music app is so limited compared to mine (I know I'm biased, but still it really is). It just doesn't have many useful features.

I also tried out an iPhone and frankly it's not much better than WP7.

As many of you probably already know, the app catalog version of Music Player (Remix) will only work on webOS 2.0 or later. And it will only appear in the app catalog for those devices.

"FrankenPres" (Pre- and Pre+ devices upgraded to webOS 2.1 using meta-doctor) cannot see this version of the app since they present the app catalog with a version number of 1.4.5. So I've submitted a version of the app to the Palm web feed that will be viewable on "FrankenPres". You can find the app page here: http://developer.palm.com/appredirect/?packageid=com.hedami.mprweb

This "web feed edition" is identical to the normal app catalog version. It also will only run on webOS 2.0 or later. So if you're running a FrankenPre and have been wanting to get Music Player (Remix), use the link above to get the app.

Any chance of downloading the version that works on 1.4.5? Lost that version with a resetting problem with Sprint Palm Pre.

You can download the Homebrew Edition (1.4.5 compatible) here: http://www.precentral.net/music-player-remix-2-0-beta

Anybody know if Music Player Remix has the ability to play OGG or Flac files yet? I saw that the PDK in Webos 2.x should support OGG now.

Thanks!

@sagaciousb The app doesn't support OGG (or Flac) because it doesn't use the PDK for audio. There are several reasons I'm not using the PDK. Here are some of them:

- Headphone/Bluetooth audio controls would not work.

- Music would not pause if headphones disconnected.

- Music would not pause if phone call came in.

- Would have to write a custom media indexer (to find all music on the device) that is at least as reliable as HP's and which would provide a seamless (transparent) media indexing experience for the users.

webOS 3.0.4 (and later) now has native support for OGG and FLAC, so they're now supported in Music Player (Remix)! On previous versions of webOS, they are not supported.

Actually, the next version of Audiophile will support music pausing on headphone disconnect, and should support Bluetooth controls and music pausing on phone calls. Plus, it has an indexer that is as good as palms, and indexes FLAC and ogg. So all those things are possible for a PDK app that plays FLAC and OGG.

Would it be possible to include a simple equalizer control in the player? Perhaps a 3 band or 5 band EQ or a simple treble/bass control would be a great addition to this awesome app!!

What's up with all the cool new apps being exclusively for 2.x and above? Why the sudden urge to leave all of us pre and pixi users behind and forget all about us?!
