FlashCards gets the right of FIRST on this one. The Lite version unlocks itself to the Paid version for those to the North AND those across the pond.

Why should US get everything first? We Europeans are paying just as much, probably more to own a Palm Pre and we always get the rough end of the stick. I would have gladly paid money for these games but for some reason they are free and may be we deserve it for what we have to go through majority of the time. I think its pretty cool of them to offer up some free games for the wait. Kinda like getting some free drinks or desert for a long wait at a restaurant. Good for them to show some love.

BTW, anyone want to take bets that Palm are paying EA for each download in order to revitalise some interest in the platform outside of the US? Given their crass error of focussing on the US too much given that the handset business is an international concern, I wouldn't be surprised if this is tied very closely to Palm's adjustment of their earnings forecasts.

Sadly not, anyone who grew up with the original and wants to play it on their Pre now has to put up with the American version. It's even in dollars rather than Monopoly currency. Sigh.

Luckily German provider O2 "officially" announced (via Twitter) like 5 hours ago that we definitely ARE GOING TO get 1.4 VERY EARLY TODAY. Seems a good day today to be in Europe... a feeling I didn't really get very often since I bought my Pre!

US customers got the Pre 5 months before Europe, you got every update 2 to 4 weeks before Europe, you got paid apps and 1500+ apps in your catalog vs Europe with no paid apps and 200 to 300 apps in the catalog. You got the Pixi as well as Pre and Pixi Plus, Europe has neither... so please, shut the f*** up!

I'm happy for the free releases to our brothers & sisters of the world. We've been blessed to have easy access to the paid apps here in the US & I want to share that access to the rest of the world...boy, I sound like a Coke commercial!

I'm downloading Sims 3 now, for free. Monopoly and NFS are also free. But are these the FULL games? Because if they are, I'm really surprised that they are free, especially considering they are from EA. Surely there must be a catch??

Ok I can confirm that I have indeed downloaded the full versions of Sims 3, NFS and Monopoly for free on my O2 UK Pre. Still no sign of webOS 1.4, but at least now I won't be going to bed unhappy!

What a bunch of whiny unprintables. I'm not sure what's worse... the hosers crying about not getting 1.4 yet (How dare Palm not meet completely unconfirmed rumored deadlines!) or the crybabies complaining about the Eurpoeans getting free apps while they waited so patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) for paid apps. EA giving away a game or two to hook customers in a base starving for paid apps is simply smart business.
Both groups are pretty pathetic and clearly comprised of people who need to GET A BLEEPING LIFE!

It's nice to that some people still have some common sense in these forums. I have never seen so much complaining as I have in these last 2 weeks. Sure 1.4 isn't out yet for those us here in the US, but we need to remember that Palm is taking a huge step to do a GLOBAL release. Meaning that it's ridiculous amounts of work to coordinate with every provider and build server capacity to take on all these updates/releases at once. Have we forgotten that many people in Europe are still on 1.3.1?? That, coupled with the fact that they barely get any paid apps makes them (and the Canadians) the most shafted Pre users. So props to them for holding out for this long.
I'll bet once 1.4 lands, people are going to complain even more that this/that feature wasn't addressed. Give it a rest! Your phones don't stop working simply because 1.4 isn't out!

I don't understand why there is so much hate about this. I doubt this has anything to do with Palm but more with EA. Also US customers had the catalogue for how many months now. Maybe they decided to suck it up to everyone else who can't get the app cat. It is just a game.....

I wouldn't be surprised you can use these apps for free till the EU app catalog comes out of beta. You probably will have to pay afer that.
These releases are also show something I was afraid of: a game translated to Spanish for Spain. Will they only be able to download the Spanish version?
I'm in Germany and use my Pre in English. I'd like to have the option to choose the language for apps. I don't want German language apps force upon me (unless it's not available in an other language of course...)
I downloaded Asphalt 5 (the trail) to my german GSM-Pre (downloaded the IPK and installed it via WOSQI) and this game let's you choose which language you want. Assassins Creed doesn't offer that though :(

Compared to the rest of the world, the U.S. is small. Big nation, but there are a lot more 'other' people out there. We Americans tend to be narcissistic when it comes to this fact.
