New in the App Catalog for 02 April 2010 19

App Catalog We’ve got to be honest, we’re really impressed by the clip at which Palm has been pushing updates and new release apps since the international App Catalog launch. Yesterday brought us nearly 20 new apps, and 158 updates (not a typo - one hundred fifty eight). Granted, many of those updates were to bring international meta-data to paid apps that were previously only available in the US of A, but that’s no excuse now. It’s a long list, so I’ll stop my typographical jabbering and just point you past the break.

New apps:

  • Book Reader, $1.99, by AppTech: Simple reader with a collection of classic public domain books included.
  • Chronograph, $1.00, by Bent Software: Easy-to-use stopwatch with infinite lap tracking.

  • Microsoft Excel Tips and Tricks, $0.99, by Concentric Sky: Tips and tricks for beginners and experts of Microsoft Excel.
  • Microsoft Office Tips and Tricks, $1.99, by Concentric Sky: A quick Microsoft Office refresher course for beginners and experts.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint Tips and Tricks, $0.99, by Concentric Sky: Microsoft PowerPoint refresher course for everyone from beginners to experts.
  • Microsoft Word Tips and Tricks, $0.99, by Concentric Sky: Refresher Microsoft Word tips and tricks for even expert users.

1st 1st - great-keep em coming

Good for Palm and webOS...and it's definitely 'upping' their satisfactory ratings amongst us (the customer) as well as those NOT SO nice analysts on Wall Street. For the week they ended trading at $3.90 from a low of $3.65. Sure it may not seem like a huge leap, but they're improving. With AT&T's imminent launch those numbers will rise as a new door would be opened up to webOS =)

I'm glad our International webOS base are happier now that they can enjoy a more 'fuller' webOS experience w/ paid apps - and the developers for updating their works so they can be enjoyed by those folks over seas...and Canada.

I can't wait for "...the world's first webOS 4G smartphone!"

Yeah its nice with the international app cat. Now we just need it to go worldwide, so we in the countries with imported Prees can enjoy paid apps too.
For now I will just have to overclock the Pre, cause my pre can't do much interesting, but it can sure do it fast :-)

Greets from Denmark.

its really sexy to see international 3D games hit the webOS catalogue. go palm! :D

I'm sick of "IPad" news already. I'm just Glad to see something not Apple related.

i'm in canada and monopoly, sims, need for speed are all not available. I emailed EA and have not heard back.

to many damn game apps and not enough productive ones. Need more apps like the iphone and less games.

Yes, but took the IPHONE three years to get MMS and that much apps, so just give more time.

Nobody is going to wait three years. I'm not waiting anywhere near that.

+1

Still no needforspeed in Canada.

Yeah, I want this game!

yea 3 years ago smartphones weren't as common and apps were being developed for the first time. Pre's been out not even a year, it should be updated with the latest capable apps. The iphone still destroys palm apps in quality, not just quantity. Where the heck is shazam and google goggles? It took iphone 3 years cuz they were exploring new thresholds. What's palms excuse?

and when few others are making decent phone apps you can take three years because there's no competition. Now there is competition so you need to measure up.

look at that list. I don't see a single major company there releasing a non game. like no espn, adobe photoshop, nbc, abc, bbc, etc. I mean maybe Avis and grooveshark but honestly i'd never even heard of grooveshark until it was mentioned on the podcast.

it's ridiculous to expect consumers to be impressed this general caliber of stuff. Or to say, wait 3 years; a year longer then your contract.

Hope that someday (soon) those of us outside North America & Europe can get access to the App Catalog.

ea have the sims 3 and nfs at

and then there's this brighthouse making quote apps. What's that all about?

Wow, what a fantastic update. Still no payable apps for the unlocked reimported Pres in Switzerland - and apparently dozens of other countries.

Palm still doesn't want my money.....Oh well....
