New in the App Catalog for 03 November 2010 25

Sometimes the App Catalog hits a lull. It’s inevitable and a mere fact of existence in the land of webOS apps. Sadly, we seem to be stuck in one of those lulls right now, with new app listings dominated by super-niche eBooks and super-basic games. Today is the basic games side of the equation, with just seven new apps to speak of since yesterday. There are several updates too, so we’ve listed it all past the break.
New apps:
- Black Birds, Free, by DS Effects. Stop the evil black birds - but the red, yellow, white or other colors - from reaching the ground.
- Bunny Jump FREE, Free, by DS Effects. Jump your bunny from limb to limb.
- Dino Eggs 2 FREE, Free, by DS Effects. Take out the bouncing dinosaur eggs and their accompanying monsters.
- FinaMath08, Free, by knoopnet. Calculate the value of your savings investments.
- Gyro Ball Free, Free, by mathslice.com. Work the silver ball through an accelerometer-controlled circular maze.
- Kitchen Panic FREE, Free, by DS Effects. Catch matching falling food to serve your hungry patrons.
- Pop Pop Pop FREE, Free, by DS Effects. Pop continually-dividing heads.

I just ran PreCentral on IE (no ad-blockers) and you are right, no pop-ups came up on my screen.

I think this is a good app drop! All a bunch of Free games and no spam apps!
I hope HP isn't following Palm's lead by just sitting back and waiting for the great apps to come to webOS. They need to be improving the built-in PIM apps and building great productivity apps themselves, as well as evangelizing and providing incentives to top-notch 3rd party development houses. WebOS is without doubt the best mobile OS, but without a stable of excellent apps they can't attract more users.
They could start by making a calendar app you can search and a clock app that doesn't randomly reset your alarms.
I am glad my clock on my pre doesnt do what you say yours does.
I'm curious. Which model/carrier are you on? I have a launch-day Pre on Sprint and it has happened 5-6 times in the 17+ months I have had the phone.
I have a Verizon Pre Plus and mine has done that at least 6 times. It's to the point where I can't trust the damned thing anymore. Sad face.
I thought I had the only phone that randomly reset the alarms. It keeps me on my toes checking the alarms every night.
Mine was doing that too, which was particularly frustrating because I have several wake-up times through the week, so they'd all be mysteriously gone. I installed a patch for the clock app that lets me set alarms for individual days of the week, and now it is on auto-pilot. No reset alarms since then.
"Super Niche eBooks" sounds like it'd be a pretty rad game.

Cue the hypothesis that developers are waiting for webOS 2.0.
It's not a hypothesis, it's basic logic. If you're a dev would you make apps for 1.4.5, which will need to be updated soon to 2.0 or would you go straight to 2.0 which has more APIs and functionality?
If I were a dev, the only way I'd be working on 1.4.5 right now is if a. I was almost done with a 1.4.5 app or b. I didn't have access to the 2.0 PDK for some reason.
Did you filter out e-books today, or are there really no new e-books?

Why isn't there a single decent photo editor in the entire app catalog? Does it have something to do with webos or is it the weak processor/ram combo? What gives? Hopefully something will come along in the next iteration where we can do some minor things like rotate and adjust contrast and saturation at the least.
