Slow app day.
Let's hope this is the calm before the storm, and not a drought of good, solid, useful apps....
What storm?
I would imagine that anyone trying to win the Palm app contest would have their app out there by now (for the sake of total download counts). I don't see any reason why there would be a lot of apps coming. Developers are probably turned off by the idea that the platform is going nowhere.
Anyone notice the app count in USA was 1637, but today it is 1630?
Also, the Palm Pixi Plus is $0.01 and Palm Pre Plus $69.99 at Amazon with 2 yr contract.
I did notice, that`s mean something wrong with the app it`s
self I think.
That or developer's are starting to pull their applications. I'm very close to pulling my application! I've never worked with such an un-mature and rude user base before! It's interesting how people think nothing of paying a buck for a soda, but if they pay a buck for an app, the world better come along with it. It's just not worth my time anymore.
Complainers are always the loudest. I for one buy a lot of apps and love them all. Some are stupid and not worth the money, but most are fairly good. For some reason Palm draws a lot of complainers that other phones dont. One of my coworkers has a iPhone. Its always plugged up because of the battery life sucking and every time he tries to show me somthing its slow. You never hear him complain though and the iPhone has over 90% customer satisfaction.
There is something wrong with your co-worker's particular iPhone. His/Her iPhone is not indicative of the whole. Just like not all Pre's suffer from the oreo effect or repeating key strokes from the keyboard or ...
I haven't bought many apps yet, since I'm looking for things like DocsToGo and Pocket Informant versus games, quotes etc. On the other hand, I have not complained about the lack of what I'm looking for either. Complainers are a lot like tracer rounds out of a machine gun; you have to remember that there are a lot of bullets that aren't burning between each one that is. The users that are happy with things, like myself, tend not to post a lot. Just my $.02.
it really is helpful if you do post reviews tho. App sales slow when their average ratings go down, and that makes it really hard for a dev to continue working on an app. Or, another thing that has happened to me is that I have bad reviews requesting features, but even after adding those features in updates, the reviews never get updated, so new buyers think those features are missing. Positive reviews really are VERY appreciated by devs.
Make that Pixi Plus 0.01 and Pre Plus $49.99 it goes down by the hour?? And to think I paid 199.99 back in July for the Sprint lowly 8gb model! Darnit!

Ok, who's gonna start the conservative/liberal bashing today?
Ok unless I'm mistaken can somebody, ANYBODY make a tower defense game... you would think that one would be out by now...
F*ck yeah! Something like plants vs zombies plz!
Yes! A good tower defense game is something I'd pay for!
I want a pinball machine game.
Old pinball game in SDL ... http://pinball.sourceforge.net/
Just needs a little love and porting. :)
I concur with the Plants vs. Zombies request...or Fieldrunner!
And a Mint.com app...so I can check up on my budgeting.
+1! A Mint.com app would be very useful!
Don't let the complainers get to you, they are no doubt a vocal group, but I think that they are in the minority.
Digloo is great. Check that one out!
I've played tons of tower games for free on the net. Hopefully someone will port one over, but I'm witing for flash to see if I can just play an existing one. But here's another vote for tower defense!!
I do not see any problems with a Developer with negitive feeling for the Web OS platform, Looking at the stats, App review comments, the foul language on this site and the off topic comments. In fact I encourge them to pull apps and try to make $$ elsewhere. For Palm and Web OS to suceed, a loyal base of user and developer must be in place. Crackberry and TIPB crack down on this type of behavior, those sites have a good fan base and it shows in sales.
Everyone has a good point. I brought my sprint pre since it came out. Changed from instinct that really tee'd me off. I love the pre and the constant improvements and apps. I spend alot of money on apps, not just because they are good and fun, but also to support the developers. I also love the forums which have become my favorite past-time, however, the forums are full of people that do a lot of complaining. They try something and immediately get on the forum and complain. They do not read up on the vast information it provides before posting. They are very impatient. The developers have a lot more support than they realise. Just think, for every complainer there are a hundred satisfied more mature users. Thanks for all you do!!!!.
It is a typical psychological problem in that we focus on the bad in our lives. You remember the days you were hurt more than the good days. And you will ignore 100 people saying nice things and dwell on the 5 flame throwing trolls. Dwelling on it until you get sick at night and just pull the plug on releasing applications. So developers tend to need a thick skin just to handle the minority of problem makers amongst their users.
Why? If a person is happy or OK with an app ... they will never tell you. If they are annoyed ... they will always tell you.
As users we need to give a "thank you" and follow up with ideas for improvement in a NICE way. And a developer needs to develop the skills to handle cruel and crude complaints. Without going over the top. It is hard for developers, but it can be done.

I can not blame developer for deserting Web OS. Just a look at Precentral's App Cat. page tells the story. No one is buying paid Apps. If there is a free version and a paid verison the ratio is over 10 to 1. You can not say that there is not enough users, Pandora had over 1 million downloads. The Premium Game downloads are just a trickle, Xplane - all three have had less than 500 total down loads.
As a group we do not support developers, we just ripp off the free and ignor the paid Apps that pay the bills.
