After the appslosion that was the last New in the App Catalog, it’s no surprise that the folks at Palm took it easy yesterday. We’ve got a handful of updates and three new apps, which isn’t great. But it could always be worse; we could have three dozen new apps all from the community’s most hated developers. Wouldn’t that be fun? Didn’t think so. The list, as you may expect, follows.
New apps:
- Color Drops, Free, by mathslice: Catch as many falling color drops as possible.
- John Billings Quotes, $1.99, by Brighthouse Labs: Notable quotes from the famed family planning doctor.
- Kahlil Gibran Quotes, $1.99, by Brighthouse Labs: Read the words of the legendary Lebanese American artist, poet, and writer.
Updated apps:
- AppScoop, Free
- ClearCheckbook Money Management, Free
- Compound Interest Calculator, $0.99
- Connect 4 Demo, Free
- Free Greeting Card Messages My Valentine, Free
- Greeting Card Messages Pro, My Valentine, $1.99
- iMirror, $0.99
- Mortgage Calculator, $0.99
- Popelli Reader, $4.99
- Super Sudoku Demo, Free
- TealShopper, $4.99
- Tire Size Calc 2.0, Free
- Truth or Dare Free, Free
- Truth or Dare, $0.99

iMirror? Are you freaking kidding me? What's the difference between a black background or just simply pressing the power button to blank the screen? The difference is that the former sets you back .99 cents! LMAO! Amazing. Thank God we have publishers such as Gameloft who make the Pre worthwile, otherwise we would be stuck with apps such as iMirror, iFart and the constant barrage of garbage from Brighthouse Labs.
Not only that, but the Pre actually has a mirror right on the back of the phone.
I think it's better that iMirror needed an update. What kind of update does "black screen" need?
That's true too, lol.
Keep an eye our for my app releasing this week, just doing compliance testing now. iGravity will be available for $4.99 and also over seas as donation ware. It will, without rooting your Pre, hold your webOS device steady against any flat dry non-moving surface and does not significantly impact your battery life or RAM mapping. I've very excited about this and I know it will be a hit with all.
Good work, PreDog.
We need that.
Two thumbs up.
:)
Good Luck in the App Contest!
The hard part is getting download credits for sales outside of the app catalog. I'm sure to win considering how badly Non-US users are whining for the privilege of paying for the crAPPs we've been offered so far. My only reward might just be the dollars cubed collected if these guys follow through on their desire to pay for stuff I would not download for free.
(And I know not all Pre owners are US-based, so "yes" I will cube Euro's, Loonies or pesos just as happily)
well-played Derek. I love you. Mostly cause we have the same name.
Derek,
I think this is actually even worse. This is not an updated app, Doin actually made a new app that costs 99 cents. His previos, pMirror is still around for free. Must have gotten some strong demand for a premium version, lol.
Are you guys kidding me?
iMirror kills all the Gameloft games hands down the best app to ever hit all the app catalogs.
lol nosah, since App scoop has been updated yesterday there is some pretty decent apps in Beta there. Check em out!
Ahh... 66.6% of the new apps brought to you by Brighthouse Labs!!
Whoever pays the .99 cents for that iMirror app, should be gang raped with sandpaper.
lol ouch! But true!
I used to have iMirror installed on the BACK of my Pr?, but then I got one of those pesky Touchstones and now I can't see myself anymore!
Wow... Palm needs to wake the F up and dump these freaking ridiculous apps. It's as bad as it's going to get...
I hate Brighthouse Labs!!!!!
PLEASE make them go away or let me filter their crap!!!
I just wanted to say it again! :)
I know Palm needs to wake up,-but the App Catalog is all about numbers, how many Apps you got,it's not about how many, good&bad Apps. It's a number thing people. RIM,APPLE,ANDROID, they all have thousands of Crappy Apps,&their numbers are good. So Palm is in the number game like everybody else. Just enjoy, GameLoft,EA, Glu Mobile, liminar labs,or whatever.
Derek, dude, why aren't the app listings links to downloads?
As a lebanese national myself, I think its cool someone made a Gibran quotes application... sucks that brighthouse was the one who made it lol.
I understand (sorta ... ) why Palm doesn't want to throttle "developers" like Dijit, Brighthouse Labs, and Europa.
But PreCentral isn't Palm. There's no reason for PreCentral to waste the electrons, Derek's time, and our time by listing these apps.
