by Derek Kessler Thu, 19 Aug 2010 8:47 am EDT

App Catalog It seems that Palm’s app feeds suffered from a slight glitch that hid many of the new apps from view in our App Gallery. i think they should get rid of these porn content

Yup, and all the biblical crap.

agreed

Millions have died/killed as the result of religion. Porn has helped replace a few of the losses along the way. Religion should beat porn out the door if we're gonna go judgemental and remove destructive influences from the WebOS society.

i think they should get rid of these religious content

agreed

just because you might not like it doesn't mean others don't. I find the Bible reader programs to be very useful

I agree with you 100%...I enjoy the religious apps I've purchased. Sometime if a person don't have nothing to say...they should say nothing.

And just because someone doesn't like porn doesn't mean others won't like it. Religion has certainly done more harm throughout history than nudity has. In my book, that makes it far more offensive.

Sacrilege!

Punish the blasphemer! Bring out the whips, ropes, and leathers!

Oh, and what's your safe word? ;)

I don't use either but I guess the choice should be available - just segregate from the "real" apps. Let's keep the hate focused on Android & Apple!

I agree as well. Ilm actually working on a free Jefferson Bible as my first practice app for something else. Religious types just make me nuts.

w00t

Everyone has an opinion!

:-)

I'd argue that porn contributes more to negatively impact society by objectifying women and breaking down families than reading the Bible ever does

In retrospect, religion was used to colonize whole COUNTRIES and eradicated whole SOCIETIES back in the 1500s 'til present day. What we are now is because of religions' atrocities: the dark ages, world wars, iraq, 9/11, etc.

Then again, religion made up for all of these through charity works. I'm still waiting for porn to do the same.

What? You mean there's FREE porn??

You're blaming all of religion for specific atrocities when in fact if people truly read and acted on the guidance in the Bible none of these things would happen. Using your logic, atheism is to blame for the countless atrocities committed by Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse-tung. What you really need to blame it on is the tendency to destruction that many people have if they are not transformed by the cleansing ability of the only one able to live a perfect life.

Some porn objectifies women. Most religions subjugate them and make them second-class citizens. Porn does NOT break down families, that's as absurd as the notion that gay marriage is a threat to traditional marriage. It's paranoid nonsense spread by people who are afraid of their own sexuality.

To the poster further down. No amount of charitable giving'makes up' for the atrocities carried out in the name of religion. No amount of charitable work can make up for the taking of a single life, much less the eradication and oppression of whole societies.

Then again, the same holds true for porn. It has destroyed countless lives because of the huge (and hidden) demand for it, which leads to: white slavery, prostitution, spread of diseases, unwanted pregnancies, rape, corruption of minors, drug abuse, adultery, etc.

This explains why government and society in general looks down on pornography.

Food for thought: if the situation were reversed, porn is religion and religion is porn, will religion then have such a high and hidden demand? That the pious and meek will be fodder for fantasies? Hmm.

I need a drink.

Pretty sure the 'pious and meek' already get preyed on in religion... look at all the little boys who get sodomized / raped by the religious people they look up to.

agreed

zineesh - look at what you started. ;)

hexage is on the money!!!!!!!

The hexage apps are great. I'm addicted to everlands.

Tigers, Lions and Bears!... if you would be so lucky!

That is alot of new/updated apps. To bad anyone on Verizon and AT&T can't download some of them

Anyone know when we might get The Truth About the Acai Berry on any other platforms?

Ok something else that i have noticed and maybe I shouldn't post this here and in a forum instead but.. I noticed that there are other apps on that hot apps leaderboard that when i try to download, say this is not a valid webOS application. So are there other pdk apps/games out there that we don't have access too still? Like for example i see ExZeus available on the leaderboards but if i click to download it says its not valid.

Anything that the developer has put a tag of 1.4.5 as the version number will not be accessible by anyone on Verizon or AT&T

Has anybody else just stopped reading these updates, due to all of the spam apps? I used to look forward to the summary and read it top to bottom. Now it's wasted PreCentral space.

Still waiting on Flash :(
First it was supposed to be a beta February release then it was supposed to be a late June release. we are now in mid august and still no flash. People hacking the iphone are able to get flash on it before we are! :(

To follow up: Yes i know that. I am sprint on 1.4.5 so i am pdk ready, go on the leaderboard and look at some of the apps then notice how they aren't in the app catalog yet. And yes i know the diff between beta feeds and the real deal.

Flash isn't super stable on Evo and that phone has a lot more juice than us.. so waiting till we get the Pre 2 for it to run a little smoother is fine by me. Bring on the Pre 2 specs now!!!!

FYI: despite being free in the App Catalog, Dream Engine is a trial requiring its own in-app activation, similar to Classic.

Personally, that means I won't buy it. Not only because the description in the Catalog is misleading, but because I'm done with keeping track of a ton of different activation codes (for when needing to reset the device or switch to a new one) like back in the old Palm OS / WM days.

If there were a +1 button next to your comment, I would have hit it about 1000 times by now.

Add another +1 from me.

this is 99% crap,
especially the annoying guidebooks and cheesy games.
what a poor stack of uselessness!

why do people take wallpapers and package then up as apps?

Yeah this is all great and all, but I'm getting tired of seeing something cool and trying to download it only to get the invalid application message. Yes, Verizon here, still waiting for 1.4.5.

Could be worse, you could have a Droid and still be waiting on Froyo like my friends. Froyo was initially released on May 20th.

Angry Birds?

It's going to be tough deciding which of the 13 new fake fart apps to get.

+13

It's going to be tough deciding which of the 13 new fake fart apps to get.

Rather than just tossing a list up of apps, they apps should be broken down by Category as well. That would make the list a lot easier to sort through.

This app catalog is a joke. There hasn't been a nongame app that interests me in maybe 7 months.

i'd say 2 apps in every 1000 released are something that i'd even consider testing. And tons of those were launch apps. More then a year after release and nobody is making the major name apps for webos that most people are asking for. Palm is barely even updating their own webos apps. Lack of apps drives people away.

Sparkle is an awesome Zuma clone, but it is much better. Power ups, quests, skills. Very well made. I wouldn't have looked twice at an app called Sparkle, but there is a forum post about it. Glad I tried it.
Right now it has 20 downloads, 6 reviews all 5 stars.

Yes please give us some categories in the app catalog, and this listing. I'd really love to avoid seeing religious apps and books. I like seeing adult apps in the catalog, but giving folks an option to hide them is fair. (I'm gay so none of the apps are of any interest to me :) )
