New to the App Catalog, 18 May 2010 11

by Dieter Bohn Tue, 18 May 2010 7:22 am EDT

Sure, Mobile Hotspot accidentally appeared for Sprint and AT&T users yesterday for a short time, but here's what's new today that you can actually download, install, and use:

  • Trackspace Full is an OpenStreetMap-based exercise tracking app that's more focused on routes and miles than calories burned.
  • Speaking of OpenStreetMap, alittleWorld utilizes it too, allowing you to track your own movements and email out the GPX-formatted results.
  • Photo Effects Plus ups the game over the lite version by adding photo cropping and photo resizing.

More new and updated apps after the break!

Photo Effects Plus! Woohoo! Finally I can crop my photos. Only 99 cents too. Good way to start off the day. Holy Cow, am I first?

heres could just as well pinch zoom a photo and take a screen shot. thats what ive been doing in the past to crop, and its FREE!

That's fine for photos you're only going to view on the phone, but you have to realize that your taking a picture with 2048x1536 pixels and dropping the resolution to 480x320. You've thrown away nearly 3 million pixels!

There is Uplood lite too for that kind of work.

(For sharing photo obviously)

yeah yer 1st. Look new facebook update!

Photo editing and a facebook app update. Not a bad morning. Now if Sprint would just join the party and allow mobile hot spotting (Hot Spotting? I know in the UK, being called a Spotter is a bad thing, but what if someone was called a Hot Spotter? Hmmm).

What does being a 'spotter' mean to UK folks?

Here in the US it can refer to a person looking out for / protecting someone performing acrobatics. A second usage is for someone looking out for the police while some illegal activity is going on (e.g., selling drugs).

Hi Dieter

Would it be possible, for both, the lists of new apps as well as updated apps, doing a sort by alphabetical order?
That would help big time, to search for some specific apps (within new and updated apps lists).

Else, this is a wonderful service and really appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your great work.

Greetings from Switzerland,
Rolf

In the UK a 'spotter' is terminology for a nerd or geek.

From the popular pastime of trainspotting. Collecting numbers of the different types of engines and rolling stock and keeping a log of your sightings.

Not my kind of thing i might add but each to his/her own.

Ah, so that's what trainspotting is. That actually sounds kind of interesting, oddly enough.

That's the way my Brit friends explained it to me too. I will use it every once in awhile for fun. That and calling the bathroom the lew.
