Apps apps apps! We all know they’re important, and the developers behind these apps would agree. Palm knows that they’re important, that’s why there’s an App Catalog on the device from the very moment you turn it on. But the App Catalog is still in beta and only a few dozen developers have been granted access - hopefully that will be remedied soon. In the meantime, there are new apps and updates galore to be had. As usual, it’s a long list, so take a gander after ye olde break.
New Apps:
- Arlen Ness, $0.99, by Djit: Wallpaper gallery of Arlen Ness motorcycles.
- Lexi-Comp ON-HAND, Free, by Lexi-Comp: 30 day trial of Lexi-Comp’s anticipated medical database app. (Technically this appeared in the App Catalog briefly several days ago, but since it was there for only a short time we’re counting this release as “new.”)
UPDATE: Lexi-Comp has been removed. Again. - Stopwatch, Free, by Red Fenix: Measure time down to the millisecond with unlimited lap counts and email archiving.
Updated Apps:
- Blocks Lite, Free
- Chess for webOS, Free
- CL USB Sync, Free
- Diet Control, $2.99
- Esperanto - English Dictionary, $14.99
- Knot Guide, $3.99
- Pack ‘n’ Track, $7.99
- photoWALL, Free
- Radio Hibiki, $1.89
- Snake, Free
- TealShopper, $4.95
- twoCalcFree, Free

Is there a consolidated list of all Apps anywhere here on this site?? (for those of us who don't have a WebOS device yet)
I don't believe there is one on this site, but Palm has a listing here: http://www.palm.com/us/products/software/mobile-applications.html. Although I have heard that it is not always up-to-date.
I had issues downloading Lexi...did anyone else also get the 'app catalog not available' msg?
also, I don't see it listed there anymore.
I don't see Lexi listed either... Must have been removed again?
Lexi might be the first "real" application for professional users. IF it ever shows up for real, as more than a 30 day trial. Will it be the first of many? Or the exception to the rule of fluff in the catalog?
Even after a full wipe of the phone I'm still getting a out of memory error when trying to even update an app.
/mind rage
... Oh well ... I suppose there's really no apps coming out to speak of that really warrant a freak out as of yet.
No doubt! I'm definitely not getting worked up about the app limit yet because almost all the apps are lame up to this point...I use more homebrew stuff at this point.
I managed to grab lexi, but it was indeed pulled later in the day.
The lexi app didn't even seem to work correctly; it just hangs at the splash screen.
It happened to me too. I was able to download the prescription part and hung up. I deleted it twice. Oh well.
Lexi hangs only with Web OS 1.3.1 It has to do with reading databases over 25MB. They are working on it.
Is there any USEFUL app, or FUN app that is free? i mean... wtf. Everything here i have to pay for it. I don't know... maybe i got the wrong device for me then... correct me guys please.
i also downloaded lexi, but it hung up on me also. i need a good drug database and a good calendar to keep the pre. If lexi beats epocrates to the pre, epocrates may loose another customer.
Hi doctoss, we're working hard on Epocrates for the Palm webOS operating system. We're still aiming for launch in a couple of months. We'll keep you posted!
Best wishes,
The Epocrates team
Still no voice recorder, decent syncing task app, or video recorder. I start looking at Verizon plans today... On my way to a Droid, I think.
I can't wait for some GOOD medical apps...while lexi is probably better...epocrates is free to affordable on a student's budget for paid services.
anyone hear an official date for epocrates release other than 'end of this year'
I got Classic mainly for my LexiComp and Checkbook. Checkbook was easily replace by our homebrew Checkbook here, but unless Lexicomp is able to store the data on the phone I am not interested (depending on price). I hate having to use the internet to pull data. My sprint signal is usually good, but when I need it and its not there than what?
The Classic Version works well for what I need.
