New in the App Catalog for 22 June 2010 7

App Catalog Today we’re going to highlight some of the sales going on in the App Catalog. Sure, everything is 50% off right now, but that’s not to say that developers don’t want to kick it up to 11 and put on a sale of their own (especially one that transcends borders unlike the current mass sale).

Of course, there’s more newness, and it’s only available just past the break. Go, get it.

Is the sale not applicable in the UK?

No, just the US.

I have never seen a company so completely disordered that they have to run an update really quick just so they show up on the top of the list. Brighthouse labs, so be it -- I understand you want money -- but spamming is going to turn people away from you. I will never buy anything from that company and am about to put the patch to hide vendors. I hate seeing them, even when they weren't out in full force like these last few days. I don't even blame this company though. I blame Palm for allowing this company to do this. The original idea of the App store was to promote high quality appiclations with true usefulness. Although somebody may find it useful to have quotes from people, how actually useful is it. Good for a quick read, but not good enough that each person or item should have it's own app.

WHY are there so many vuvuzela apps??

Well the Brighthouse removal patch was one of my favorites. Although it is still there, it does make it easier to ignore them.

I do see everyone capitalizing on World Cup with what has to be the most annoying aspect of it, the Vuvuzela. I already mute the TV when watching preferring to listen to good commentary on the radio while watching the match. There is no way I am downloading something that makes that sound. It is horrid! I applaud the efforts of the developers though.

Also we released a light version of our Virus Defense with the first 5 missions to try in the hopes that a few people give the first Tower Defense game on WebOS a try. We expanded the full version a few more missions and updated the graphics. Expect a major overall in the near future.

brighthouse needs to go away. Did they rais their price on apps for the sale? At $1 now, really $2 full price for that crap? Guess what brighthouse, I can google ANYTHING you have an app for and it is better.

It's not just Brighthouse that's bad. A search for brighthouse apps turned up 140 apps. Appible: 80. Dijit: 91. That's 319 crap apps right there, assuming the search on the the phone's catalog is doing things correctly. Add in all the Europa Pictures stuff, soundboard stuff, etc, and the number's even higher. A good 15% of the catalog is probably total crap. What's worse is the total number of apps is still extremely low. Hoping for better things to come.
