New in the App Catalog for 23 July 2010 15

App Catalog Well, we’ve got more apps on deck, and those of us on Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T are left scratching our heads at the turnabout problem we have here: American webOS users are behind in receiving webOS 1.4.5. If it weren’t for the fact that the update provides proper sandboxing for PDK apps, we wouldn’t be missing much. But we are, and the App Catalog feeds prove it:

  • ExZeus arcade from HyperDevbox brings the popular iPhone 3D shooter game to webOS.
  • Galcon, also an iPhone game, from Hassey Enterprises is a highly-addicting fleet maneuvers game with online multi-player action.

Neither of these apps are available to users running webOS 1.4.1(.1). And that’s just the tip of the appsberg, as several other PDK apps have popped up that only 1.4.5-running devices can get to. PAAAALM! Anyway, the list is after the break. You know what to do (hint: click the “Read the rest of this entry” link).

is it Palm or the carriers?

LOL, I was thinking the same thing...CARRIEEEEEEEERS!

Honestly I don't mind letting the rest of the world beta test the new update. I come from a land of Instinct, where several updates would either be pulled after a day or it would break a core function of the phone like TeleNav.

I'm happy to wait.

Maybe it's both? If the fstab bug hadn't existed, Palm wouldn't have needed to waste time trying to fix it, and the carriers wouldn't have needed to wait for them to do so.

they're not fixing it, and the carriers aren't waiting for palm to do anything

I get the distinct feeling that Kirk is saying that PAAAAALM! part.

Well I didn't care about the 1.4.5 update till I find out I am missing out on a chance to still get some PDK apps at 50% off. They haven't pull the 50% off yet!

Oh no just tried to do some last minute shopping app catalog is no longer 50% off dang. Oh well I got most of the apps I like thanks though palm I hope you devs appreciated our money.

were is the update already sprint was good with this in till this update, oh well i already have ExZeus arcade on my evo

funny you should say that...

I emailed ddluk (the rock paper scissors dev) and sweet talked him into adding rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock mode to the app, and today's update brings it! Haha!

gotta love big bang theory.

refreshed the page, paid the double posting price!

add Upward Mobility to the list of over-priced app spammers.

I can't see how we'd be considered a spammer company - every app we have is custom written test prep designed for mobile. We've just figured out a way to port from platform to platform.

Our apps are the type you need to have a great app store - niche content for on the go study that you are really excited to find. And that makes you feel better about owning a Palm Pre...

They should put up the total number of apps in each of these updates? Anybody else agree?

I concur, it does kind of sound like Kirk.

I do think we have enough games for now. I think we can wait for this update to come out if the pdk games are all you guys want. Just get some of the many 3D games and waste all the time you want.
