App Catalog Some days are hot and heavy with the apps, others are light. And sometimes, they’re both. “Say wha?” you say. Well, we’re light in the numbers, but sort of leaning to hot and heavy in nature (looking at your apps, On The Go Girls).

New apps:

  • Best of Savvy Girls, $0.99, by On The Go Girls: The best of the Savvy Girls sexy women photo collection.
  • CompTIA Security+ SY0-201 Test Prep, $3.99, by Upward Mobility: 125 practice and prep questions for the SY0-201 certification exam.
  • FreeCaddie, Free, by Mobile Software Design: Full-featured trial version of GPS golf rangefinder FreeCaddie Pro.
  • Hottie Show, Free, by On The Go Girls: Download and save to your wallpaper photos of all the hottest adult stars of 2010.
  • Isolde Rising Trial, Free, by Fairsing: Fantasy RPG, build a party of four different races with four distinct classes, with customizable stats and spells, all for epic adventure.

App drops have become underwhelming. Be glad when mommemtum turns.

VDRemote sounds like something you'd name an STD after

The apps over the last few weeks have been pathetic. Hopefully this will improve....

Seriously, these are some pretty bad apps. Thank god for homebrew, otherwise I would be returning my new pre+.

On The Go Girls, LLC..... are you a renamed Dijit? If not, you should merge and release the Super Amazing Hotties app to end all hotties apps. I'd definitely pay $49.99 for that kind of action.

Palm's gonna have to think about how to implement parental control on their app catalogue soon.

I completely agree with orawas. Palm better make it a priority or my kids won't be using WebOS devices when they become eligible for phone upgrades, next year.

Because it is a lot harder to google "naked" or "porn"????

yeah i understand both perspectives. i understand the concern of a parent. That said i also think it won't make a lick of difference in keeping kids from seeing it. When i was a child i was way to smart to have that keep me from porn. Honestly i'm quite sure i was old enough to use the internet i'd likely be much better at finding porn that my parents would be at keeping me from seeing it. So i feel for parents. I just think its a losing battle.

What a pile of tripe..........again.

Paid apps for non US users next week.....not going to be buying anything unless the apps are of some use and going by the apps at the moment that won't happen. WebOS apps are a pile of ....!

Are there any big developers doing apps for WebOS? I see Skype is on nearly every platform apart from WebOS......all the decent worthwhile apps are on other platforms too.

yeah - Palm should've started developing apps for it's platform that wasnt created yet back when the iPhone and Android store came out - I mean, how can we possibly not be caught up with these companies with 2-3 years head starts on us?

Skype - yeah - how in the world have they not made apps for WebOS yet? it wouldnt possibly be because the PDK is 2 MONTHS OLD would it? nah - amazung apps only take like - a week to code right?

All the decent worthwhile comments are apparently on other platforms too...

NOOOOOB

Palm new what the competition was when the released it and they did nothing to get developers interested in WebOS. When you release a product you look at what the competition can do. All of what they are doing now should of been available to developers last year when it was released, not 9 months down the road. My post does not say anything about Palm making apps for an OS that hasn't been made yet you silly boy.

Compare WebOS apps to Apple apps and you will see that Apple have plenty of apps that are productive to users in different countries, WebOS don't have that. I agree that there are some pretty awful apps too for other platforms but they have productive worthwhile apps to combat that. If you think that the apps for WebOS are great and serve you a purpose thats fine, myself and others would say different.

Any big developers for webOS would have to be willing to bet their valuable time and money that Palm will turn it around. Since it's hard to find any objective opinion, these days, that this is a likely scenario, it's not surprising that app development is slowing down. It's one thing to have to pick another phone platform. It's another to throw away months of development effort.

They key to get the big name devs is to make sure they know about the PDK.
Tell them that they can port their iGame over in a matter of days or hours (instead of devoting months of development to it).

I was recently begging someone for a webOS version of their iPhone app. The reply was they want to expand, looking at the best way to do it.

Told them about the PDK; they seemed very excited.
I hope to have my app soon.

should I just abandon any hope of ever having flash on this phone? My bet is that they can get it to work on the Pre+ but not on the shitty regular old Pre that I bought last June. I just hope Palm holds on long enough for there to be some resale value on Ebay when I upgrade to the EVO.

I will be leaving Palm once the EVO is out! TRUST ME!!!

i said i wasn't but i saw a video of the EVO and damn! Pre doesn't hole a candle to it. for me it will be about appz and the music player. I'm gonna wait till the summer and see what apple does but until then i'm basically just waiting to make this Palm phone a paper weight.

If Palm just released their final device with Palm Pre Plus guts inside a metal shell w/ 4.3" screen... they could EASILY overclock the phone to 800 MHz and not worry about heat, due to the dissipation of the metal.

Hope they WILL do that as their third and final [for now] form factor. Because I'm in the mood for a large screen myself.

yeah, I'm agree with ghjmxnn. If palm don't came out with something new by the end of summer, then I will wait for winmo. Because I don't like android OS. I'm sure HTC will make a device for windows like the EVO.

I've been holding back to comment but I am very upset with Palm! I too am actually waiting for EVO this summer b/c of this. I am too in search of a parental control for Palm Pre & there is no movement on Palm's end. The #1 reason, in my opinion, why other phones are better, such as Iphone etc. is b/c of the app store. This should have been understood before making the phone available b/c this is where the Iphone has the edge. Iphone offers parental control & even more where the Palm is not even discussing it. I love the Palm but for now I am only waiting for the EVO this summer. I would pay & contribute in anyway to assist with providing a parental control for Palm Pre.
