New in the App Catalog for 24 September 2010 15

App Catalog Okay, so maybe Palm decided to bank the new apps that didn’t come on Thursday and instead dropped them all on Friday. Why? I don’t know... maybe to end the week on a high note? Regardless, we have apps now!

  • Saber Ultimate is finally available for the Pixi - get your light saber on.
  • Messaging Plus combines an HTML emailer and an anonymous texter in one package.
  • Dark Horse Comics News brings you the latest news and info from the comic gods at Dark Horse.

As (almost) always, there’s more, and it’s after the break.

The App Catalog is alive and kicking.

Yawn.

agreed. More then a year after launch and we consistently are not getting major apps. An utter disappointment.

I'm sorry but stuff like Dance Handbook, calculators, and how to become a dental assistant are fine but that's not what i bought the phone expecting. That's not CNN, or ESPN, or ESPN fantasy, redlaser, etc. And tons of companies don't have any plans for webos apps. that's a problem.

not saying there's something wrong with those. I'm saying we need major names to attract users. And to keep users. And more then a year later this is ridiculous.

Anybody getting errors when trying to update all the apps?

I've been getting that for almost 3 days. Very annoying.

I believe this was caused by a recent change in the catalog, which affects users who have applications installed (homebrew, in development) which are not available in the App Catalog. I hear that they will be reverting this behavior soon

Thanks! I thought I was just going crazy or there was something wrong with my phone. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon. Small app updates can wait; I need my Preware and homebrew. :)

As an temporary way to update the apps, you can go to the What's New section, then search for the app that needs to be updated (Preware will list those apps that need to be updated). You can update the apps individually.

If you do get an Action could not be completed.... message, try again.

It is a hassle, and hopefully they'll fix the problem. Heck, there may be an easier way than this, but it did work for me.
If you try searching and updating from the front page of the app catalog, it reverts to the error. Make sure you go to the What's new section.

just so you all know Office basketball has a crash bug for some pres on startup. A new version has been submitted and I am waiting on palm to release it.

Probably worth mentioning on the front page that the Update All function has been broken for the App Catalog for over 24 hours now, if you have any non-Catalog apps on your phone (eg, Preware).

I get "the action could not be completed. try again later" a few moments after I hit the shopping bag icon; it doesn't even show the "update all" button. Is that the error you're talking about?

Seriously? Carpet Handbook?

What? Isn't that totally the reason you bought the phone. You don't love carpet handbook? I can't believe they aren't making commercials about these. Facetime? Who wants that. We got Carpet!!!

All these apps are garbage. Pure garbage.... Good thing iom not buying apps anymore because its evo time!!
